The museum was poorly maintained and would only be of interest to those that really like science history. The telescope on the grounds was restored between 1996 and 1998 (at a cost of around 1 million Pounds) but it was not clear was exactly was restored as there is very little information around the telescope.
However, the gardens (when we were there) were an absolute pleasure to walk around. They are however massive and would require a good 2 to 3 hours to do them justice.
Parking directly outside works on a "pay and display" system with a maximum of 2 hours per ticket.
The coffee shop at the entrance serves light meals made from fresh ingredients and was good value for money.
The entrance fee of EUR 9 to the gardens (museum included) was definitely not good value for money.
