Just a beautiful layout and the Caddy's make it fun as they tell their stories and the history of the course. Old and New Course

“If God made golf courses........”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

This is without doubt the best golf course I have ever played. It's simply sublime. Every hole is a test and and many are simply stunning both in terms of their visual appeal and technical challenge. The 17th, known as Devils Elbow is something I'll never forget.

The clubhouse, pro shop, restaurant etc are all top notch as are the friendly staff.

It was a very special treat to play this course and I very much hope I'll get the chance to play it again in the future.

“Ballybunion … Links Golf eh?”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

I remember … they kept saying … bring lots of balls … keep it straight and DON'T worry about the score. They must've played Ballybunion Golf Club! The weather changed 6 times in the 5 hours we spent on the golf course. A mist on the practice tee … a wind on the 2nd Tee … rain on the next Tee … Sunshine … Rain … Wind … Sunshine … ad nauseum BUT Ballybunion is a LINKS COURSE. It's astride the Ocean and it CANNOT BE REPLACED! It's golf as it was originally invented. So play or attempt to play Ballybunion … don't get too frustrated … sure there are narrow fairways with gorse and worse just waiting to eat your ball. Sure there's a par 3 200+ yards away uphill with a tiny green to land on with a 30 kh/h wind in your face … but heck YOU'RE ON BALLYBUNION! I asked the club pro what the Slope is from the White T's and he said 136 but that today it must be rated 140 … was the to ease my ego perhaps but I doubt it. Wear at least 4 layers … bring lots of balls … shoot the ball straight. Enjoy.

“The worst value meal ever!”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

Decided to have a meal after playing Ballybunion Old Course. What a disaster........ This has to be the worst value for money ever. Food cold and insipid. Never again. Only redeeming feature was the friendly service and the fantastic view out over the Atlantic ocean.

“Average greens very average catering”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

Played the Cashen course recently . Greens had been dyed green and had not been cut , generally I rated the greens as poor condition for a so called top class facility . We had food in the bar , bar staff were unfriendly and un welcoming , food standard was well below par , I understand its franchised out but this is no excuse for poor standards . Review your catering Ballyb .
