I would never ever stay in this hotel after my previous stay some years ago. While I was asleep on the first night of my stay I woke up to find that the smoke alarm had gone off -- black smoke was filling the bedroom from the en suite bathroom where there was smouldering electrical wires. The lights in the room were not working and I had to feel around in the dark to find the room key as it was the only way to unlock the door (if I hadn't found the key God knows what would have happened). My young son was staying in the room with me and to say the least it was a very upsetting experience. When we ran downstairs to the lounge and informed reception, the duty manager told the other guests that it was a plastic bag in an ashtray that had caused the incident, the inference being that it was my fault. No one had bothered to investigate the fire alarm going off either. The fire brigade were called and at some point in the night we were moved to a far inferior room. I must say the staff (other than the manager) were lovely to us and helped me move my stuff which was smoke damaged. I had pre-payed for this hotel so had little choice but to stay there for the remainder of my holiday but on check-out I asked to speak to a manager and not surprisingly one was not available and I never received either an apology or any compensation for the ordeal. It's hard to believe but this is how we were treated, never ever again!

Had really good food in sands this October- two really nice guys met us at door and we had a drink in the bar- really good food and excellent price- must say the place was extremely clean and I would say at the prices they are charging it must be very busy- the place had about 10 there when I was in - keep it up boys.

Went for dinner here and walked into the restaurant. No one in there which is never a good sign! Restaurant was dirty, tables needed a good wipe and floor needed cleaning too! Looked like if hadn't been cleaned in days! Gave it a chance and ordered lasagne. Went to bathroom and again the toilets were filty! As I was washing my hands a member of staff walked in to check the toilets. She just flushed the toilets and walked out again - despite the obvious fact the place was in need of a deep clean!! When I sat back down I actually said to my partner I hope the food is ok because this place is disgusting! Out comes my food with two hairs on it! Plate also wasn't clean! Waitress didn't really acknowledge it and barely mumbled an apology. On way out I asked had the manager been informed and she said no just the chef. She told the manager and he was so rude and arrogant! A warning to all avoid this dirty hotel!!!
