“A lovely hotel with a very warm welcome!”
Reviewed July 25, 2012 via mobile

We attended a wedding and stayed at The Majestic last week and the staff really stood out for being helpful, friendly and very welcoming. The service during the wedding breakfast was brilliant, really quick, and the food was hot and delicious, despite catering for a huge wedding! Our room was very nice, and it was very clean and comfortable. Thank you for a great Irish welcome!

The location is very good with plenty of free parking opposite or on the road. The ground floor areas have been updated and look smart in order to get wedding business. The bedrooms are clean, spacious (with a large balcony) and well equipped but need updating.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was more like home cooking than fine dining! They had a large wedding party so we were pleased to have got anything that was edible!

Dear Wendywoooo,
Thank you for your review & your kind words regarding our recent ground floor refurbishments as well as mentioning the free car parking available.
I was disappointed to read that you didn't get 1 of our recently updated Bedrooms (90% updated and on going) , which include Newly refurbished bathrooms,Flat Screen TV's with multi channel HD & modern furnishings.
I was also surprised to read that you felt the food was more home cooked than fine dining as we constantly receive very good comments about our menus & service.
We offer a Table dHote 4 course value menu & recently launched our new a La Carte Menu for Fine Dining.
Thank you again, looking forward to welcoming you back soon.

I ate today at The Majestic Hotel in Tramore, my home town. It was a intended as a family occasion celebrating the memory of an aunt. Due to members of the family being hard of hearing a table had been pre booked. It was a poor start when this booking was not remembered and although we were seated in a quiet area of the restaurant it was not suitable under the circumstances. The room was dirty, service prefunctionary and unsettling speedy. Food definately wasnt being freshly cooked. With the exception of the fish cakes everything else was overcooked and unappetising and the chef had a very weird predilection for potato, a passable dauphnoise was completely spoilt with an overdose of lumpy tasteless. Hoping against hope some of our party ordered dessert, bland & mass manufactured the only saving grace was the wine - a Rioja Tempranillo was a saving grace. To add insult to injury we were overcharged for coffee having said that if budget is your primary concern and you like the common spud this might be for you. I personally wont be returning and feel obliged to apologise to visitors to my home town as this is the worst meal I have had in years

Room Tip: Only ate the hotel. Not compelled to sleep overnight

Dear Annekscott,

I would like to apologise to you and your family for receiving a poor standard of service when you dined with us recently & especially on such an occasion of the celebration of your Aunts memory.

I would like to apologise to you again for the oversight of your booking. On the day in question our restaurant was very busy & large bookings (8 or more) are generally seated in the far end of the dining room, which some guests prefer as it is spacious and has stunning views of Tramore Bay.

I can assure you that all our food is cooked fresh, sourced locally & all desserts are prepared daily by our experienced and professional chefs, who take great pride and care in the preparation of all food served.

It saddens me to read that you wont be returning for lunch with us again.

Yours sincerely

Mark Whelan
