“lovely hotel !!”
Reviewed December 18, 2006

My boyfriend and myself stayed at this hotel for one night last weekend,

Its a fab hotel, fantastic location ,right on the beach .. the weather was bad when we stayed there but a local woman i spoke to in the leisure centre told me how you could walk up to youghal from the beach right on the hotels doorstep, we didnt get to do that but id love to go back during the summer!

the leisure centre is lovely, the pool is nice and you can see out onto the beach from it, the bar and restraunt is great, had no complaints with the hotel at all.

the staff were very helpful and friendly

the only thing i would have prefered is if the hotel was closer to the town for nightlife, but the bar was fairly lively :-)

I had the pleasure to stay at this wonderful hotel for a working meeting. My expectation were low when I learned I was staying at a budget hotel, was I very wrong. Firstly the location is amazing, literally on the beach, but most importantly the staff were amazing, from reception, to the leasuire centre, to the restaurant. The bedroom were very comfortable and fitted to a high standard. One issues was the lack of broadband and wireless internet access, but the hotel sraff were very receptive to the feedback and commited to address this flaw. I will be back and recommend it for small business meetings.

WE stayed in the self catering apartments, 2 adults 2 children. bring some cooking oil and wasking up liquid. the rooms are clean and the kitchen is well stocked. The pool is great but they need to keep ontop of the cleanliness. the bar food was great and the staff friendly. the beach is a great assist and we will return again and again

My wife and I visited Ireland Aug/Sept. this year, Kilkenny and Dublin being where my family are living. Along with my 10 brothers and sisters we spent three nights at The Quality Hotel & Leisure Centre in Youghal Co Cork. The accomodation was above average. Our one and only minor complaint was the lack of an initial supply of tea/coffee in our appartment. The facilities are excellent. From our initial arrival to our departure we were extremely impressed with the quality of the service from the very friendly staff. We had breakfast and dinner in Lannigans Bistro. The food was 5 star, the staff 10 star. They were almost invisible but our food was on the table, bearing in mind there was 22 of us, so that we were all eating at the same time and the table was cleared so very efficently that we were still talking when the next course arrived. 10 out of 10. The bar and entertainment was also of high quality. We highly recommend this establishment. It also a great place for young families. It is only a minute from the (Irish style) beach. A 10 minute drive or a 40 minute walk along the beach takes you into the township of Youghal where there no shortage of shops. Unfortunately, not being very good on the computor I am unable to supply any photos. Richard Trehy Sydney Australia

Had a fantastic time here with my son. Wished we had booked in for longer. As a single mum, it was wonderful to be able to book my little man into the Dolphins Club in the evening, knowing he was safe and well cared for. He had great fun on both occasions-doing arts and crafts, playing team games, being supervised in the playground, watching a film and having dinner-all for the sum of €15. Meanwhile, I got to go the gym (state of the art), the jacuzzi, and have a grown ups meal without having to cut up dinner for him!! the location is fabulous, right on the beach away from it all. the room was lovely-not spectacular but perfectly fine. The hotel seems to have thought of everything for families in particular-kids breakfasts at very reasonable prices, kids cinema, kids playground etc. If you want to keep the kids entertained and have a bit of time to yourself, this is the right hotel for you.

Depends what you are after!

It was full of kids and seemed child friendly with good beach and excellent pool. However couples without kids should get one of the hotels in town. It is a bit remote and as we never ate there so cannot comment about the food except breakfast which was generous but lacking in quality. Public areas and some rooms were a little uncared for, sand seemed to get everywhere. Staff friendly but mostly Polish, some very inexperienced.

So go with the kids but forget the romantic break, there are probably much better hotels locally. Can recommend Ahern's in town for eating. Tourist office very helpful - Nice town.

Youghal "Yawl" is where John Huston filmed Moby Dick - plenty of whale watching trips leave from the area, makes you wonder!

We have just come back from a great holiday in East Cork. We stayed at the Quality Hotel, Redbarn, Youghal. The weather was good so we spent time on the beach, which in April was a bonus. But when it was chilly we went to the hotel swimming pool and gym. My wife and I took turns swimming with the kids while the other did lengths and went to the suana.

The restaurant was great: in the morning we had breakfast as the sun streamed in; in the evening we relaxed as the sun set.

The rooms were comfortable, the food was hearty and the Guinness was delicious.
