What can I say. The food is first class, nice atmosphere and great hosts. If you love your seafood, Ahearne's is a great stop. We also stayed for a night, and the rooms were lovely; clean and warm and we had a great breakfast the next day.

I visited Aherne's last year with my grandmother and grandfather who was suffering with cancer. All of the staff at Aherne's went that extra mile to make sure we were all completely comfortable and relaxed for the duration of our stay especially my grandfather. We had such a lovely week and enjoyed walking along the waterfront as well as relaxing next to the open fire. The breakfast was always fantastic with a wide choice as was the food in the restaurant. I can't stress enough how accommodating all of the staff were and how much of an impact they all made on me and my grandparents. Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness.

We had just a great weekend in Youghal. We stayed in Ahernes. It is obvious why it is in the Blue Book. Great food, great service, but most importantly a feeling of being welcomed. And we met some lovely local people there. The people of Youghal are very friendly, the way the Irish always were.

Ahernes provided quality B&B accommodation with excellent quality food. The service and attention given to us in a friendly manner with happy teasing banter with the owner was welcome. The food and bed spont on. Enjoyed our stay immensely

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet there is no noise from the hotel or outside due to design of The complex and ad...

We booked this on short notice for an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. The room was spacious and really pleasant decor. It wasn't tired looking to me ( as I had expected) but it is old world with antique furniture and fittings. The bed was huge and really comfortable. We were in a tower room over the bar but we had no issues with noise.
The food was of a very solid standard and my main course was really very good. The wine list was varied and offered good value. I was much more impressed than I had expected.
Breakfast was very pleasant with a good range of fruit on the buffet and a very pleasant full Irish breakfast. Proper coffee comes in a proper silver pot which is always a winner for me.
We had a very relaxing overnight break which was exceptional value on the package rate and we will return again

We enjoyed a lovely night in Youghal on Saturday. The welcome was warm and hospitable and we enjoyed a tasty 3 course meal. We also stayed overnight in one of the delux rooms. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfy. Unfortunately there was a bad smell coming from the bathroom and I think the decor was jaded. Also the room looked in need of a good dusting and while towels and bedclothes were immaculate, the tables were a bit on the dusty side. Breakfast was delicious with some lovely touches like freshly squeezed orange juice and proper sausages and pudding. The poached eggs were perfect and not the vinegary little bull's eyes you get in some restaurants. Thank you aherne's for w wonderful stay!

Arriving at Aherne’s late on Tuesday evening for our last night of a ten day tour of Ireland and Northern Ireland, we were greeted from the main road by the owner, John who personally guided us from the secure and private car parking to our spacious rooms in this warm and homely hotel.

The rooms were very clean and fully appointed, with desk (Wi-Fi included) flat-screen TV, armchair, king size bed and large bathroom. Having settled in we headed downstairs to the formal restaurant (bar dining was also available) to experience the local tasting menu for which we had read excellent reviews.

We were not disappointed, quite the opposite – after a full seven courses of delightful, fresh and locally sourced seafood, along with drink pairings including a miniature Guinness with oysters and port with the cheese course, we needed to take a brisk walk around the block to re-invigorate before returning to the cosy hotel bar for a nightcap.

The dark wood and brass bar was lightly populated with fellow guests and our hosts with whom we had the pleasure of putting the world to rights over Guinness, Murphys and Bushmills. As two Brits and a New Zealander, we were made to feel as if regulars and thoroughly enjoyed the evening as we did our entire stay.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the room perfectly dark and peaceful. After a wonderful night’s sleep, we returned downstairs, past the real open fire in the drawing room, to a delicious full Irish breakfast and a cheerful morning greeting from our friendly host. Check-out was fast and simple and on departure our only regret was not being able to stay for longer.

We highly recommend Aherne’s to other visitors whether for overnight accommodation or even if just to dine – the food really is superb and reasonably priced for the quality. A short drive from either Cork or Kinsale add Aherne’s as a MUST when you (next) visit Southern Ireland.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 7 and had a wonderfully peaceful and comfortable night
