Nice and cool castle. Has kept all original fetures. Dinner and breakfast was really nice. Our corner room in the courtyard was superb. To bad the location is a bit off. Nice golfcourse and tenniscourt

Attende a wedding reception here and was VERY impressed by both the food and the service. Meal was tasty and warm and helpings were generous. Staff were excellent and all tables were served at the same time. Grounds are gorgeous and the rest of the hotel full of interesting little "nooks and crannies". Impressive building. Did not stay over so cannot comment on rooms etc.

The castle itself and grounds are very nice. Breakfast was quite enjoyable. We stayed in the buildings behind the castle and they aren't quite what we expected. There was also a wedding and the music played until all hours and the band might as well have been in our room, so sleeping was quite difficult. I give the castle extra points for the giant wolfhound.

Room Tip: The directions on the website are less than helpful. Keep the phone number handy.

We took advantage of a last minute one night stay in Cabra Castle with dinner included. The location is beautiful and the staff were courteous and helpful. The setting is beautiful and the landscaping is in keeping with the age of the castle with beautiful clematis, geraniums and rhodedendrons in full bloom. We stayed in a beautiful room in the old part of the castle (no. 33 I think) with a huge ensuite that had a freestanding bath-tub. The bedroom had a lovely window seat with views over the golfcourse and patio area. We had lunch on the terrace from the bar food menu and it was tasty and delicious. We asked for a window table for dinner and we were accommodated by the helpful restaurant staff. I cannot fault the meal or breakfast the following morning. All in all - our 24 hour stay there felt like a real getaway and I will certainly go back there. I would say that it is more for couples than families - young children would find it hard to resist interfering with some of the old furniture/fittings which is not as robust.

Room Tip: No airconditioning in the old part of the castle and we found it very warm at night - however this w...

We joined family to celebrate our niece's wedding in July. Two relaxed and joyful nights! Through some enjoyed the castle rooms and labyrinth of corridors and stairways, our room was tucked away in the stables. Spacious and comfortable inside, we also enjoyed access to the secluded gardens outside. Add to this, a fabulous setting, the warmth and generosity of the staff , glorious sunshine, excellent food and you have the recipe for a perfect stay. Adjustments for disabled guests could be improved but that aside, this is a great place to spend a few quiet days. Oh, let me not forget Oscar, the wolfhound who haunts(?) the castle and looks like he has lived there for nigh on 1000 years! Definitely a place to experience.

Room Tip: Talk to the helpful staff about your needs!

I was there for two nights at a wedding. A beautiful setting and plenty of accommodation. The hotel is split between castle rooms and more modern courtyard new builds. Both very nice but varying greatly in size and quality. The castle is quite a maze of narrow stairs and winding corridors, charming to get lost in, maybe tricky for those with mobility issues. The food, even for the wedding meal, was excellent and the staff were friendly. There is a nine hole golf course, a nice forest walk.

A beautiful place to stay. Our group had one night be we experienced everything. The restaurant was a great introduction to Ireland - supper and breakfast. We were greeted by the mascot of the property - the Irish Wolfhound "puppy" about 150 lbs.
The room was very nice - unfortunately we were there during the hottest summer that Ireland had in the past 17 years and there was no air conditioning - this did not ruin the atmosphere. Staff was very friendly - I wanted to buy something from the "gift shop" and was given the key to obtain my articles and pay at the bar. Great patio to eat and drink. Golf course a few steps from the castle also.

Room Tip: All the rooms were great. Our entire group of 44 loved the hotel and the restaurant.
