The perfect ending to our CIE's tour of Ireland was staying at Cabra Castle. Our room was just across from a well-landscaped garden, so we could sit & relax before dinner. The evening meal was delicious. There were so many choices that it was difficult to choose just one, but I chose the beef stroganoff over rice & loved it. Best of all was the yummy dessert, which was ice cream topped with a yummy caramel sauce.
While walking around the grounds after dinner, we met a delightful Irish Wolfhound named Oscar, who added much charm to our encounter. After that, we enjoyed touring the castle with all its period furniture, suits of armor, paintings, & flowers. It's a truly lovely place, & a perfect setting for a vacation stay.

Wish I would have had time to take in all that was available. Our room(s) was spacious and kept with the castle theme. Food was excellent. The only misgivening was that it was our last night in Ireland. Golf and tennis was available and looked like it would be fun at no additional cost. I'll go back if I return to the area.

We stayed over night in the Castle. (You can book rooms either in the castle or in the grounds behind)

We quickly found out that this was known as the 2nd most haunted Castle in Europe. (Apparently this is more of an American interest than locals) So we tried to explore that by asking staff about ghost stories.

Our room was room 24- "Sarah's Room" .. I will let you figure out the rest.

We didn't hear/ see anything mysterious. But I must say that the castle has an erie feeling to it.
The room was ginormous and everyone was super nice.

Oscar (the 4th) is a very friendly "guard dog" who loved my Starbucks Banana bread..

Cabra Castle was one of the many highlights of my trip to Ireland. So glad we stayed in a castle.

We stayed at Cabra Castle for one night in April 2013 as part of an Authentic Ireland tour. I had emailed the hotel to tell them that this was my husband's first visit home in 45 years. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by Oscar, the friendly Irish Wolfhound. We were told that we had been upgraded to a beautiful Castle room. It was exquisite. We felt like we had been taken back in time. The castle grounds are exquisite and the setting is like something out of a fairy tale. Full Irish breakfast in the morning set us up for the day.
For anyone looking for somewhere to stay for a special occasion, this is the place
