“So good we went back again”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

Great service. Great food. Great Value. Don't live in the area but we went back to support an enterprise that is trying to do great stuff without penalizing our pockets. Sent my friend there for their Birthday and the she said the Staff could not have been nicer. Well done.

“Bad Experience”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

went to the well last fri night for a family meal on booking we were informed we would have to be there for 8.30pm as there was music in bar later that night and they needed the restaurant cleared early we said that was no problem we arrived at 8.20pm shown to our table and the very friendly waitress informed us there was no real panic with table they were just telling people to be in early to be on the safe side, this was the 3rd time in the past few weeks we have eaten here and the service and food is always very good, we got our starters as usual very nice got our mains again no problems the problems started as soon as my wife put here knife and fork down after finishing her main course the staff started hovering round us clearing things away the waitress (a different one from the nice waitress who took our initial order) then said do we want anything else in a manner as if to say dont order we need yous out, as we had chosen the set 4 course menu we said we did want to order dessert we were then asked if we would mind moving up to the bar to have our desserts and coffee as they needed the band to set up were our table was positioned we said ok and moved to the bar we got our desserts and coffee i then went to the bar to pay our bill and order a a couple of brandys i had just sat down again when a gentleman i assume was the owner came over and asked were we staying for the music as there was a €5 cover charge i told him we were not we were leaving after we finished this drink about 7/8 minutets later he again came over asking if we were staying and if so we had to pay €5 euro each i said i had already said we were leaving after this drink he was not very pleasant to a family who were after spending nearly €200 he said we were told when booking the table was needed for 9pm i said we we only told we had to be in for 8.30pm which he then said that we were also told the table was needed for 9pm i dont think any one could finish a 4 course meal in 30 minutes needless to say we finished our drinks and left, that gentleman needs a few lessons on how to treat customers as i said food here always good but this last experience left a sour taste in my mouth we wont be back

“I would definitely go back.”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

As 2 English girls finding our way around Kingscourt, we randomly walked into this place after it was recommemded to us by the manager of the hotel we were staying at.

When you first walk in, you enter the pub, so it's quite dark & small but as you walk through you enter a light & spacious restaurant. The staff were lovely from the start & despite service being a bit slow initially, it picked up and we had gorgeous food all night.

The pork belly starter was lovely-although I wish it was bigger

The duck main was lovely. I personally would like the sauce to be a little less sweet but otherwise it was gorgeous.

But the chocolate fudge cake with ice-cream was hands down the best chocolate fudge cake I've had before. It was a great evening, nice & simple decor & lovely service.

We would definitely go back again.
