Stayed here in October for a short break, made use of the discounted 3 night stay plus one night dinner package. Everywhere clean and well maintained, but not very inspiring. Things like more than just tea and coffee in the room would have been appreciated. The staff were very nice, but twice room service trays from breakfast were left out in the corridors until well into the evening - very poor. Can only assume the 4* rating was achieved because of the gym etc. The restaurant was very dark in the evening, most of the food was fine, but I had a really tough piece of lamb rump that I couldn't even cut. Breakfast was good, especially the pancakes. Overall fine but not special. Would probably try somewhere else if returning to Cavan.

Room Tip: Room very warm so needed window open, unfortunately lots of traffic noise as situated near main road...

I recently attended a wedding here and an overnight stay, and I would highly recommend it. The venue itself is ideal for a wedding. The setting in the wedding reception was perfect. The food was served very quickly, and given the quick turn around, was lovely. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The bedroom itself was as you'd expect. I cannot praise the hotel enough for a wonderful wedding, and I know the bride and groom were very happy with their choice.

Stayed in this lovely hotel 30/9 - 2/10 - we had a truly lovely time. The weekend went seamlessly despite the fact that two large weddings were taking place at the same time. The hotel lobby and bar were maintained impeccably. The bedroom we were in was really lovely and gleaming. The leisure centre also.
The restaurant was the jewel in the crown. The chef produces a relatively small menu, but oh WOW was it good.
Breakfast next day, excellent and everything efficiently arriving as requested.

Definitely worth a visit!

The hotel on paper seems wonderful, however inside in places carpets are grubby and rooms are rather bland, The beds are comfy so I enjoyed a goods nights sleep,
The bathroom was nice and was extremely clean.
My main gripe with this hotel is value for money and the Restaurant...which to be honest is one of the poorest I've ever been to.
The restaurant lacked any atmosphere, food was luke warm when it came out and the portions of veg were tiny. Between two adults two small bowls were brought out for us to share off, One had about one potato mashed, the other contained, two small pieces of broccoli ,four carrots and two pieces of cauliflower ,all of which were rather undercooked. This would do for one person, not too. The steak I got was overcooked, dry and was overly chewy due to the meats juices been removed. This main course was 28 euro, it lacked any value for money and did not do much to fill me up. Compared to other restaurants, this is easily the poorest for value or quality of cooking
The breakfast was also rather poor overall, the food was barely warm, quality of meat was poor and seemed like the cheapest of the cheap.

In summary, the hotel is not good value for money, the rooms are bland and do not compare to other 4 star hotels, the restaurant should be given a miss. The staff were helpful etc

We had our wedding reception in the Cavan Crystal Hotel in July 2011. We were totally pleased with the quality of the service - all aspects of the planning were well attended to and on the day of the wedding, all of the guests were impressed with the quality of the hotel, the meal, and the service efficiency. The general management of the wedding day was excellent.

It is difficult to find fault with the operation with respect to wedding receptions - Chris and the entire Cavan Crystal Hotel team managed all aspects of the day to our complete satisfaction.

We would highly recommend the Cavan Crystal Hotel as a wedding destination, not just for the excellent service delivery but also for the competitive pricing which they offer. All things considered, we think that it would be extremely difficult to improve upon the Cavan Crystal as a wedding destination.

Room Tip: Not sure on this one - we had the wedding suite and it was excellent.

Hotel is impressive from the outside. Entrance and lobby areas are very spacious with great potential to be fantastic if more attention was paid to detail. Chairs and carpets throughout are grubby, and threadbare in places.

Rooms: OK, quite plain, comparable to most 3 star hotel chains, but this is 4 star, so it should be more impressive e.g. free wifi in all rooms / more tv channels

Breakfast: Continental part was quite limited in choice, but cooked part of breakfast was very good. On the whole breakfast food was very good. Again chairs and bench seats had many stains and some of the chairs had holes in the upholstery.

Dinner: Food and Service in the Opus One restaurant was excellent. The only negative point was that there were very few people in the restaurant, so the atmosphere was dead, but this isn't really anyone's fault.
Point to note - there's no bar menu as such, sandwiches only available until 7pm.

Other: Our family package included vouchers for cinema/bowling and kid's play area. We only did the bowling. These vouchers were a nice touch.

Overall: Good food, but decor is tired. Not the level of quality you might expect from a 4 star hotel. Not a bad hotel, just OK.

Stayed in this hotel - outside it look good, inside is very tired and need a good coat of paint on doorways & skirtings, everywhere , carpets dirty, seating areas leather looked grubby and worn, the bar area was very dark, boring bedroom, the only nice part was the bathroom was fresh and clean, four coat hangers between two guests. Fire doors on bedroom landing, and hallways always left open when they should have been closed.
The restaurant food was good and the service there was excellent though slow.
