“Great rooms!”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

My family stayed one night and enjoyed the spacious and very clean rooms and wonderful views. The location is ideal with a short walk to town. Chippy is very lovely and extremely accommodating. Also a fantastic place to eat is The Pantry.

This B&B is one of the best B&B's I've ever stayed in - it's more like a boutique hotel than a B&B. The interior is excellently decorated and the rooms are modern and plush. We stayed for one night (wish we'd stayed longer) and had a room on the top floor which was marvellous as we had lovely big windows which we had open all night to hear the sea. The breakfast was delicious - really tasty which set us up for the day. Another plus point about this place was that it has a private car park as the road it's on is a little narrow. The only minor drawback was that there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room but this didn't bother us for one night.

by far the best B&B we stayed in. Spotless, airy, beautiful interior with a view to die for. we were so lucky to get a room here,( Saturday night) not a sea view but such a beautiful room/ bathroom . Breakfast was perfect with attention to detail & professionlly served. Chippy is a dote & runs a super business without losing the personal touch. one regret.........only stayed one night! I have already recommended this place to 3 of my family/ friends. I just hope I can get in next time! FAB!

We really enjoyed our stay here. It is literally just across the road from the water and we could see and hear the surf from our room. The property is spacious and nicely decorated. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of hot and cold options. The trade off is the bit longer walk into town but we loved it. Don't miss driving half way to Loop Head for the cliffs. There are no crowds and just as amazing as the Cliffs of Moher!

great view of Kilkee Harbor. Good Location for a ten minute walk to town center. Good jumping off point for scenic cliff-viewing drive.
The B&B is quite lovely. The owners have put a lot of time and money in modernizing while keeping it's charm. Chippy Hickie was a great hostess.

My husband and I regularly travel to Clare and over the years have stayed in various B & B's. We have experienced a wide variety of standards, from the purely functional to the downright awful, but I can honestly say the Waters Edge is in a league of its own.

The location is absolutely fabulous, with breathtaking views of the dramatic Iris coastline. Once inside the dramatic coast is still more than visible. The cliffs, the bay and black diamond rocks are all beautifully framed by each and every window. Complimenting and accentuating the grand decor. It is furnished so well and with much thought and care, it feels both grand and yet homely.

Special mention must be given to Chippy and JJ. From the moment you walk through the door you are taken care of and made to feel like part of the family. They are thoughtful and funny and importantly friendly!

We have returned to the Waters Edge time and time again and we have never once been disappointed. This is a testament to the high standard of service provided. It is the perfect place to spend a relaxing weekend by the sea, or as a base for the more adventurous who enjoy cliff walks!

I can only congratulate Chippy on creating such a beautiful home and welcoming others to share it with her.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights on the recommendation of his parents who have stayed there a few times previously and always raved about it. We have had lots of weekend breaks and have high standards and expectations. So, we were a bit nervous in case it wasn't as good as they had made out especially as my father in law originally comes from the area. So we met my parents in law (they were staying for a week and had arrived the day before) and were taken to The Waters Edge. What a location! "sea views" was not one of those statements where you have to stand on tiptoe, close one eye and lean to the side to catch a glimmer of water. Full sea views, cliff tops, beaches - the whole deal!

We were then greeted by Chippy, the owner and she couldn't have made us more welcome. JJ, her husband, is also very welcoming and provided us with a few laughs. As we entered the house, we got our first glimpse of how fabulous the property is. A beautiful hall, fabulous staircase and, at the top of it, a beautiful stained glass window (and even more beautiful when lit up at night). We were shown into the huge lounge and provided with tea, coffee and biscuits all taken while looking through the massive picture window overlooking the sea.

When we went to our room (3), we were delighted that it was light, spacious and, again, fabulous sea views. The whole house has been put together with great care and attention to detail. Power sockets next to the dressing table ladies! Something lots of hotels seem to think is abnormal.

The 3 days here were everything we could have asked for and a fabulous power shower to bring you fully awake after a quiet, peaceful night. We toured around the surrounding areas, did the cliff walks, the lighthouse and 'the loop' and were blessed with fabulous weather (this does add to the experience but I would also love to see it all in wilder weather as I am sure it would be fairly dramatic - although I will take the sun anytime as we live in Manchester and tend to forget what it looks like). No tv in the room which could have traumatised my husband but free wifi diverted him from that and, amazingly, he didn't even miss it or want to use the one in the lounge.

Breakfast is great but you need to be very specific as 'just a small amount' doesn't translate the same in Chippy language. You will never starve, even if breakfast is the only meal you have all day! We had a meal at The Strand overlooking the beach, which was really nice but the nicest meal was at Murphy Blacks. Don't let the name put you off. This isn't pub grub - it's fine dining and cooked fresh. The owner, Cillian, was really friendly and the food was delicious.

We will definitely be back to Kilkee and The Waters Edge and thoroughly recommend it. Thanks for a lovely holiday experience.
