Barberstown Castle have extended their Tea Room service to include Evening Dinners, served until 8.30pm. Myself and some friends dined there last week and our experience was definitely a positive one. We all enjoyed the food and the service was very good. The menu may lack a little variety and the venue is not suitable for younger children. The room itself is bright but very warm and with an open fire which lends to the relaxed atmosphere.

Well worth a visit, staff friendly and attentive, food very good with a wide choice. Lovely open fires, and sitting room where you can have your coffee or before dinner drinks. Great piano player.

Great for that special occasion.

We had lunch at the tea rooms. They have a good menu and the price is reasonable. The service was a little bit slow but if your not in any rush then it's perfect. I'm going back with a group of friends in May

So : this is really a review of the tea rooms there. We have eaten there before, and its quite pleasant. Its only about 5k from where we live. We adopted a little chap, in August, and hadnt been back. Our son is 16m old, and has eaten in restaurants, bars, cafes etc since we got him. He is happy (enough) in a highchair for 45m or so, and is a quite little guy.
So we went for a lunch sandwich, maybe a scone or mince pie, just before Xmas, at 1400h. There were 4 people in the tea rooms, which are nice bright conservatory style rooms just off the reception.
The (mortified with embarrasment) server told us that while we could of course bring in the chap, we would have to keep him on the couch or lap, as "the owner doesnt allow high chairs". She agreed, as did the duty person on reception that this in effect moved parents of toddlers off from dining. They were crimson, and noted that this was a policy...
If you want a no kids policy, say so up front. Dont be sneaky and sly, be proud of your miserableness and antifamily views.
We went back to our local pub and had a great lunch, where the little chap sat and chewed and babbled and played with his toys for an hour. Well done Lock 13, not so much Barberstown
