“An unforgettable dining experience”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

Could not fault sage in any way. From food to service and atmosphere everything was top class. Garvan and his team are exceptional, pleasant and professional. The complementary taster starters and after dinner drinks are a brilliant touch. We will definitely be back, this is a must dining experience.

“Have All Restaurants In Letterkenny Bumped Trip Advisor Reviews”
Reviewed June 14, 2014 via mobile

Is it pure coincidence, TA bumping, or an easily pleased market - but every restaurant in Letterkenny has extremely high review scores compared to anywhere else?

We tried this restaurant on the advise of its high TA scoring which is a very powerful marketing tool, and found that the food unfortunately did not meet the expectation to reviews. In hindsight we should have noticed that every restaurant in Letterkenny have amazingly fantastic scores and somethings not quite right with that.

The restaurant was quiet, but that was no indicator, as surprisingly the town was dead as a door nail for a Friday night. The decor was a bit stark with lime green walls and white being the mains colors, and the tiles make the place look cold, however, if it was busy you would not notice this as much, and also thats just my subjective opinion, others may like the look - but food taste is fairly universal, and what we had could only be described as okay and really underwhelming - my mains was under seasoned, looked the part in presentation but bland - the desert though was the most annoying, although very tasty the portion size at €6.50 charged was utterly miserable, it took precision to cut such a small hamfisted slice of choclate cake.

Overall it was grand, not brillant and not the gastronomic expereince expected from what is meant to be a fine dining restautant/experience. Saying that staff were very pleasant, and the atmosphere very relaxing. We stayed for about 90 minutes and with two glasses of wine, two courses for two just under €60.00

Pardon the pun, but my advice would be to take all restaurant reviews in Letterienny with a pince of salt, and on this occasion look at other means of recommendation.

“Lovely atmosphere, adequate food”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

I visited Sage recently on a Friday night. The place was very busy and had a lovely atmosphere and the staff are friendly and welcoming. However, the menu does not hold any wow factor at all. Had we not heard such great reviews, we may not have had such high expectations. When our food arrived, it was adequate and nothing more. Trio of fish beautifully cooked but served with melted butter, a little boring. My dining companion ordered a mexican 'hot' dish. (We had heard that the chef was Mexican/South American and had high hopes) unfortunately, the dish was not at all hot and tasted weak and watery. Very disappointing. Desserts were good, but again, unremarkable. Complementary liquors a nice touch, although only arrived when we had ordered some anyway. On the whole, the food let this place down. I would go again in a group for the atmosphere and friendly service, but would not choose to go again whenever I want a treat.

“Birthday meal”
Reviewed June 2, 2014 via mobile

We ate here for my mother in laws 70th birthday, the food was lovely and the menu was varied enough to suit different tastes. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff very friendly. I would recommend Sage as it is also in close proximity to the theatre and other bars and clubs.

“Evening meal”
Reviewed May 26, 2014

We recently visited sage and had a lovely evening. We were greeting by friendly and helpful staff and then served the most superb food. The restaurant could do with a lick of paint in parts but all in all it was excellent
