When have we seen a corn mill and flax mill together? It is very rare...and this one actually works! The tour guide, Dave, is fantastic and showed us the ins and outs of this mill. I was surprised by how informative it was. This would be great for kids! All of it was run on a waterwheel! Very green nowadays.
If you have ever wondered how linen is made, this is a great tour for you. It certainly showed me how hard people worked at this years back. Highly commended.

We visited at a ver quiet time and the member of staff gave us lots of information as to how the men had to work in those days and why the mills are no longer in use. It was very though provoking and well worth the visit.

What an interesting tour we had around the corn and flax mills. It was fascinating to learn how things used to be done with all that dangerous machinery ; well before the days of Health and Safety regulations. What really made it for us was the guide. He was excellent. Some guides can be a bit sing-song,Iike they've said it all a million times before. But not Dave.He told us all sorts of information about the process of grinding corn and getting the linen fibre from the flax plant. He also showed us how the waterwheel worked and provided the power to work the mills. And amazingly it was FREE.

Our OPW guide did a splendid job of explaining how the mill worked up until 1981. Very interesting story of milling grains, and also how the flax mill operated. Well worth a visit!
