The location is stunning and the castle is even better. Its in fantastic condition inside and out and probably one of the finest examples of its kind in Ireland. The rooms are stunning and the tour guide was great. His father actually worked in the castle when he was very young so he had some stories to tell!

There are regular and electric bikes available for 10/15 euros half/full day so very fair. There arent a whole lot of optional paths though. The bikes are brand new and have 24 gears.
The castle itself though is not as enchanting as others ive been to. The tour strongly emphasizes the splendour of the furniture, which to me was half interesting..but obviously there is a lot of historical information and such. To me, inside, it just looked like a big wealthy house..doesnt have a castle feel to it.
However, it is cheap, so worth the 5 eur.
If you are limited in time, this isnt a Must see attraction.

We visit Glenveagh frequently with our mountain bikes and also to walk our dog- it is a brilliant park with good trails and stunning views. All of the facilities are well maintained and clean. My mum has also been on the Glenveagh Castle tour and really enjoyed it. As well as the scenery and lovely trails, a highlight for us is always the Glenveagh Castle Tea rooms which serve great coffee, lovely lunches and some of the best traybakes and scones that we have ever tasted. Particularly recommend the mars bar rice krispie buns and the Snickers cake- no idea how they make such simple things taste so good. The service provided here is also consistently excellent and a lot of other places could learn a lot from the great service and enthusiasm which is evident here. We also recently visited the Glebe Galley tea rooms whilst on a cycle from Glenveagh for coffee and a traybake and were delighted to learn that their baking comes from Glenveagh- also definitely worth a visit.

If you like walking this is the place for you. If not there is a bus that takes you right to the door of the castle for a small fee. The gardens are really beautiful, especially colourful at this time of year. There is a nice coffee shop that has a good selection of sandwiches and snacks. The castle itself is worth a visit, there is a charge but I think it's worth it. Allow plenty of time to visit, as there is so much to see and enjoy.
