“Very Good 3 star hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2008

Really impresssed with hotel as it was only 3 star and have stayed in worse 4 star hotels. Great location right in the middle of leixlip. We stayed for 2 nights, the first night we ate in a lovely italian right across the road and the second night we ate in the restaurant in the hotel which was lovely. There a really nice late bar in the hotel with live music and a DJ at weekend. The courtyard itself is really pretty. We were there in the winter but I'd say its really nice to sit out there in the summer. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Dublin about 20min drive into the city centre depending on the traffic.

  • Liked — The late bar
  • Disliked — A bit far outside Dublin if you are planning on going out at nite in the city

Booked this Hotel as we were attending a Christening party there and decided against a long drive home that evening. Our check-in was handled very efficiently by a lady receptionist who very nice. The room was lovely, very clean and overlooked the river. However we encountered some problems later on in the function room. Irish law prohibits smoking inside the building, and there is a smoking area provided outside but on this December afternoon it was bitterly cold and the four heaters outside were not working. A number of elderly people were forced to endure freezing conditions while having their “cigarette” (I’m an non smoker myself) but emphasised with them. We requested that the heater problem be investigated a number of times and were ignored completely. The staff’s had a “its not my job” attitude. The next morning at breakfast there were more problems, items included on the menu were not available “Kippers” “Crepes” etc. due to a high cholesterol problem I must avoid fatty foods like the full Irish Breakfast (which was micro waved anyway)

We paid €135, which in my opinion is overpriced, for the poor service provided. The Hotel Management should think about reviewing its daily operational problems and also employing staff that provides prompt and better customer service.

I returned to the Courtyard having been given an offer that I couldn't refuse. I was, as with my first stay, very happy with this place. The important point is to insist on a room that is on the opposite side of the corridor to the bar with the live music (unless you want to hang out in the bar). The staff are very courteous and welcoming and - since the heating was off during the summertime - there were no cluncking sounds either!

  • Liked — The courtyard
  • Disliked — This time it was very good! No complaints!!

Stayed here for the weekend and ended up taking out the executive suite. The suite could have done with a few finishing touches like, bath robes, better TV, multi media (DVD, WiFi) but it was a good room with it's own private balcony.
The staff were wonderful. They were friendly and attentive. The food was very good in the restaurant although the bar food was heavy and basic. The atmosphere was excellent especially in the court yard.

We stayed at the Hotel as it was close to the venue of the Streisand concert. Let me start by congratulating the staff for making our stay so pleasant.
Two days before we arrived I received a call asking if they could organise a taxi for us on the night of the concert. The reception staff were most helpful throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble.
The restaurant had an excellently valued early bird menu and it was a nice touch that the hotel laid on complementary soup, sandwiches and hot drinks for concert goers on their return. Breakfast was excellent too - they'd extended the duration as the concert finished late, to give guests an opportunity for a lie-in!
In summary, an excellent hotel with thoughful staff - we will return.

I stayed in the courtyard just last week. I have never stayed there before but leet me tell you, i wont be stayin again!
We booked one of the luxury suites, which was WAY overpriced! The only good factor of the hotel was that it was close by to a concert i we were going to.
The room smelt terrible of stale smoke. the bed sheets had clearly not been changed, the room came with a private balcony but it was of no use as there were cigarette butts lying around, the chairs and table, full of cobwebs.
Restaurant staff were so unpleasant! Bar was nice enough The bar men are very friendly and are very chatty.
The 'group general manager' introduced himself to us and was extremely fake and actually made us feel quite awkward.

DONT go there if you wanta nice stay. if you are on a night out, the pub would be a good place to go but thats all!

Myself and a friend stayed here last weekend on a SuperValu (collect the stamps) deal - it was FANTASTIC!! The hotel room was spacious (we had booked a twin, and got a large room with a double and a single) - stylish and very well equipped. The window looked out onto the beautifully kept grounds and the river behind the hotel. Very quiet. From the moment we checked in right to the end, the staff were all, without exception, as friendly and smiley as can be, and they made every effort imaginable to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. They were even more than happy to give us an ice-bucket and wine glasses to take to our room for the bottle of wine we had bought in the shop! Outside there is a huge courtyard with loads of tables, sheltered areas, a man-made waterfall-type feature (which was actually a bit naff, but no matter!) and lovely relaxing music playing. There was another outside space leading from the upstairs bar - also very attractive. There were 2 restaurants and 3 bars altogether. We ate one night in the ground floor restaurant amd expected it to be awful, judging by reviews we had read, but it was included in our package so we gave it a try. They've obviously had a change of chef cos it was actually lovely. Two of the bars had live music both nights - one aimed at the more lively crowd (excellent bands, playing well-known covers - amazing talent) and the other with a live pianist and singer, playing more relaxing, easy-listening stuff - again very good quality. We flitted between the 2 both nights and thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. I can't comment on the noise factor as other reviewers have, because we were joining in (!) but it did end at a reasonable hour. We ate one afternoon in the Leixlip House Hotel up the road, which was of a totally different (and lovely) style - food very tasty, atmosphere much quieter. And we ate one night in Miss Wongs Chinese - excellent. Overall we found Leixlip a lovely place for a weekend - everyone was super friendly, very clean and attractive town. I will definitely go back to The Courtyard, and I can't wait!!
