We stayed two nights and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. We wanted to go to the Cliffs of Moher, they called the touring co. for us and had them pick us up in front of their home and returned us after the tour. The "honesty bar" was a lovely perk for us to hang out and have a drink before we went to bed for the evening. The wonderful breakfast buffet was outstanding with loads of fresh fruit, breads, and a hot breakfast served to order and the teas were wonderful. I would recommend this B&B not only for the wonderful service and friendliness of the proprietors but because of the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms. Great stay for the price.

This is a lovely guest house. The communal areas are comfortable and decorated beautifully, and the little bar with an ‘honesty’ system of payment is a nice touch. Our room was very spacious, spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard. The bathroom was also of generous proportions and there were nice extras like bathrobes provided. We had a lovely view out to sea, and it was a short walk to Bishop’s Quarter beach for a morning swim.

We really enjoyed breakfast; the buffet was very extensive and included lots of home made preserved fruits, jams and breads. The cooked breakfast was also delicious. The young German staff were friendly although a bit nervous and inexperienced when dealing with guests. It’s perhaps slightly more business-like than the average B&B but this did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay in Drumcreehy, and we would recommend it to our friends and family if they are in the area.

We had a lovely night's stay at Drumreehy. The hosts were very welcoming to both us and our dog and the room was immaculate. It was lovely that the dog was welcome in the house. It was also nice that there was an 'honesty bar' so when we got back from our evening meal we were able to enjoy some wine out in the garden. The breakfast was delicious. The host was also incredibly helpful in recommending a 'dog friendly' place to eat. Couldn't fault it. It's just a huge shame that County Clare seems to be so hostile to dogs - we were not permitted to take our dog walking on the Burren or on the beaches (unless it was before 11 or after 6 - on a lead).

We are a Swiss Family and stay for two nights. Friendly welcome. The rooms are very nice and clean. And the breakfast are great with difference things (muesli, fruits, meat, cheese, ....). It's a nice quiet place to be. We hope it was not the last time in the Drumcreehy Country House.

We - a german couple (54 and 50 years) - stayed for two nights (16. and 17. July 2013). The room was lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean with a great view over the Bay of Galway. Breakfast was unbeatable; lots of fruit, even a selfmade "müsli" and various kinds of cooked food (from "full irish" to very good pancakes). The owners (an irish-german couple) are very friendly and helpful.
But the location is about 2 km out of the centre of Ballyvaughn, so you'll need a car.

We made Drumcreehy House our base for all of County Clare and checked out feeling vindicated by our choice and for trusting the TripAdvisor reviews that led us to this wonderful inn.

The big advantage is that, without giving up one iota of country charm, Drumcreehy House was built to be a B&B. That means that the spaces and amenities are intentional -- and you're not trying to shower in a space improvised from an 18th century meat salting room or something ridiculous and decidedly uncharming like that. There's a kitchen that was built to handle the comprehensive spread that they put out for their guests; there are common spaces that were delightful to those in our group who were sometimes inclined to spend their day on the premises, and rooms that (at least for everyone in our group) were spacious and offered fantastic views of the Burren.

Drumcreehy House is not in the center of Ballyvaughan. It's not even walking distance (particularly given the typically narrow Irish roads) for those who wish to walk to dinner. But it's also not in the middle of nowhere. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the spaces around the inn. You have the Burren's iconic stone moonscape in the back; you have Galway Bay (or, technically, the North Atlantic) in the front, and you have stonewalled fields and pastures, with cows and horses alongside the Inn. There's even an interesting cemetery with the classic Celtic crosses just a couple hundred meters up the road.

It was a terrific base for touring the Aran Islands and visiting the Cliffs of Moher -- although it may be a little more far afield than most people might choose. If you consider stretching out a little, Drumcreehy House will be well worth the extra few kilometers you might fear. Ballyvaughan is itself a terrific destination, with great restaurants and hiking (take the Wood Loop one afternoon if you want to probe well inland into the Burren) so you may find that your center of orientation will change and that Drumcreehy House will end up being an ideally placed.

As much as we like to explore and try new things, I suspect that a return trip to County Clare would also mean a return to Drumcreehy House for our group -- because seeking other accomodations carries with it the real risk that we'd spend our time unprofitably wishing we had returned to Drumcreehy House.
