This was a last minute pick and we were not too excited about going. It far exceeded any expectations we had. The staff is wonderful and your ability to get "up-close and personal" with the birds was noteworthy. Like the idea that they are engaged in a preservation and use the center to make $$ to keep the work going. Been to several of these type of shows, and with this I learned so much about the birds, the work trying to restore the indigenous birds back to Ireland, and the importance of raptors world wide. The day we were there was rain ( can you imagine a rainy day in Ireland?) but it still was outstanding trip. Definitely would return (and hope it was sunny)

This is one of the places that we love to bring friends who come to stay from abroad. It is such a wonderful experience. The staff could not be friendlier, more knowledgable or when dealing with me....patient ( I am nervous around birds!). The location and atmosphere are fabulous and now matter how often we have been, I continue to enjoy the adventure!

My husband and I took the Hawk Walk with James the falconer and two Harris Hawks. It was awesome, and James' passion for "his" birds was palpable. We loved having the birds fly back and forth to our hands and learning about the Centre's programs. This is a must stop for families who want their children to experience nature, and a close encounter witht the wild. The staff is obviously dedicated and devoted to their calling. Five star value!

What a day. I didn't want to leave. I thought the falconry was spectacular. The birds seemed in excellent condition. Jamie and James were wonderful communicators, entertaining and obviously loved their job. I cannot understand the other reviewers who found it cruel or sad. The centre was a very positive place. Not only are the birds worked every day in the display, the handlers take them to the woods to train and exercise them. We met Jamie in the woods with one of the Harris hawks. He welcomed us tagging along and we all got to allow the bird to land on our gloved hand. Magnificent creature!
The birds all seemed very content.
Loved, loved, loved the whole Ailwee experience... The farm shop where we watched them make cheese and tasted mead. There was a workshop in the woods where Mike showed us how to whittle a flower out of willow and how to make fire. Cave was interesting as well. Our seven year old son never asked once for his lunch, or when we were leaving. He was so enthralled by the day. All for €39! We pay more in the cinema! What a fab day out! A must!

Fantastic introduction to the Raptor family. The staff at the centre are clearly passionate and informed about the care of the birds in the Centre. The staff went to great lengths to explain the current breeding programmmes in Ireland, ie the Kites, Peregins and Sea Eagles, the difficulties faced by the conversation teams to reintroduce these species to our lands after they were hunted to extinction. The staff were fantastic with children present and our children left knowing the value of such magnificent animals. The Centre appeared well managed and the birds well housed according to their specific flying requirements, supported by plenty of exercise routines... Great educational day out. Highly recommended. Keepnup the great work and wish you continued success in the breeding programmes andcresearch activities. Our family will now look to the skies to see if we can spot the breeding pairs...Thanks
