We spent a night in Gort na Mona in April and were welcomed by all the family. We were given, at our request, a quiet double room (upstairs in the annexe) with a great view (right down to the distant sea). The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious. Our hosts were very informative about the surrounding area and their children were delightful.

Fantastic b&b just outside Ardara.
We stayed here for one night. Beautiful rooms, the bed was super comfy and the showers are seriously powerful! That's the mark of a good B&B in my book!
The owners are so nice! Very knowledgeable about the area.
Fantastic breakfast!!
We'll defo be back

My parents,11 year old daughter and I travelled to Ireland for the first time in May 2013, tracing my grandmother's steps and meeting distant relatives. We stayed three nights at Gort Na Mona and found clean, comfortable rooms with private bathrooms and all the amenities needed. The breakfasts were generous and delicious. The hosts, Laurence & Fiona, were welcoming and personable. As we were busy connecting with family, our only regret was not being able to sit and talk longer with our hosts over an Irish nightcap! Looking at returning to Ireland in 2015 and will ensure our travels have us staying at Gort Na Mona again!

This was our second visit to Gort na Mona, but this time we rented the thatched cottage across the street. A quaint little place with a turf stove for heat and a fridge stocked with Guinness. Seriously, can it get any better?

Thanks again Laurence and Fiona, we had a great time. See you in the fall!

My wife and I stayed one night in an upstairs room in the separate building. We were enthusiastically greeted by Fiona's mother, a lovely lady. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The shower was wonderful change after many mornings in shower stalls so small that it was not dangerous to drop the soap because one couldn't even bend over to pick it up. The only slight discomfort for us was that the bed had a foot board which made it difficult for two tall people. For dinner we went to Nancy's, Fiona's recommendation. It was small and charming and their Chocolate Guinness Cake was wonderful. Breakfast was ample and delicious. Another reviewer mentions Slieve League. We had been there the day before and it remains one of the high points of our month-long tour of Ireland. Not to be missed! We would definitely return to Gort Na Mona.

we stayed one night ,we were warmly welcomed by Vera ,Fiona's mum, and given an overview of what to expect and asked what we would like for breakfast.

The room was clean and well decorated but lots of cushions on the beds, which appears to be the normal practice of all B & B's. This can be a nuisance when the room only has one chair. where to put everything.

The room had a double and a single bed which was great during the night when husband and I had tried to find a spot where we wouldn't be bumping into each other.

Lovely breakfast with choices of breads and jams available as well as fruit and an Irish fry.

The highlight was seeing the yellow sheep and Laurence giving us the history of his family
and yes Laurence we took your advice and went to Slieve League.it is magnificent and we have since spoken to so many Irish folk and they have never heard of it. Thank you

We stayed there for one night in rooms 1 and 2. Both were beautifully decorated and absolutely spotlessly clean! In each room we had nice tea and coffee station with some goodies. Beds were really comfortable and room was nicely warm which is important in the middle of October.

Breakfast was very tasty with continental options, big variety of fruits and full Irish breakfast too.
The view from the dinning room was very relaxing overlooking green fields with sheep.

Fiona and Laurence are lovely and only thanks to extensive Laurence's knowledge about Ardara and surrounding area we have discovered the most beautiful Waterfall and the beach (definately better than Connemara).

For such a treat I consider this price moderately low. I recommend 100% and will definitely stay there again when in Donegal. Thank you Fiona and Laurence!!!

Room Tip: Room 2 has a sheep view :)
