I stayed here while on a business trip and found the hotel and staff very pleasant. The meals where of good value and well prepared and breakfast offered a wide variety. The room was clean with free wired internet and the bed comfortable. Therefore for a businessman this hotel offers all that is needed for a comfortable stay.

My only criticism is dining in the 14 Below restaurant is that some of the seats, albeit cosy, are too low for the tables.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights for a family wedding, with our 3 young children. We were very let down on our first evening, having to wait over a 3/4 of an hour for our dinner, we were given both starters and main course together, asked for a pasta dish for our youngest child, and seriously we got only pasta, no sauce or meat etc. My son got my main course and I got his. He was sitting with relations so I couldn't change with him. Staff were very unfriendly that dealt with us that evening. Room was very small for a family of five. The staff in general were just about o.k, but didn't seem to help in any way,or go out of their way for us. The cleaner was the nicest and friendliest person we spoke to during our stay. The restaurant staff on the 13th floor didn't seem to have patience with young children. Overall I was very let down on our stay in this hotel. Have spoke to the manager of the hotel and told him our complaints, was told if I was passing by to let him know and to drop in for dinner!!, only to find out today that another couple that was staying with our group complained also to the hotel got a 2 night break cortesy of the hotel, Very let down as we did spend quite a large amount of money during our stay

I stayed here for 3 nights as art of a large business group and overall found it to be a fairly standard enough Crowne Plaza experience, the same as most other Crowne Plaza hotels I have stayed in.

The location is excellent for several local companies and the Institute of Technology, but is not walking distance into the town and the restaurants and bars, so without a car/taxi its very isolated.

The check-in staff were particularly friendly and helpful, but I cannot say the same of the bar/restaurant staff who were just about average, and certainly didn't go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

I had a king room at the end of a corridor (corner room) so it was a bit bigger than most. Very well appointed room with plenty of space. The desk was a good size for work and came equipped with multiple plug sockets types - see my photo - although I don't think standard rooms had this. Its great for foreign business travelers.

The gym - in basement - is very small and lacks any natural light. Just a few machines and some free weights. Not that good for a business hotel, although it never seemed to be in use by anyone else when I was there.

Al in all, a reasonable experience and depending on where you are visiting, the location could be its best feature.

Room Tip: Corner rooms and business rooms are best I think.

We were here for 2 nights for a family wedding. The hotel is great - the staff are super friendly. The rooms are bigger than average and easily fitted our 2 kids as well as us into one room. Beds are very comfortable and the breakfast highly recommended. Also it was so reasonably priced. What more do you need in a hotel?

Only booked this at the last minute as we were in Dundalk for the day and went for dinner in the restaurant. It is on the 13th floor and has great views if you get a seat near a window. We checked to see if any rooms were available as it was getting late. Luckily enough a room was available at a reasonable rate. The room was fairly spacious and comfortable. We were able to avail of a late checkout the next day at no extra cost. There was a little bit of confusion the in the morning as the staff in the restaurant thought the room was booked on a room only rate but we had paid for a B&B rate. All was sorted out in the end though.

Stayed here for a weekend when meeting up with family in the area. Hotel is nice and the staff are lovely BUT ... wifi only available in the lobby only (signal doesn't even stretch as far as the bar on same floor!). There is wired internet connection in rooms, but only good if you happened to bring your laptop. For ipads / cell phones, you have to go stand next to the reception desk to get a signal. Ridiculous in this day and age!! The staff told us we could get a key to use the business office. This turned out to be a bit of a joke - 3 ancient computers, only one of which was working. The connection speed was so painlessly slow, that we gave up even trying. The screen was filthy - I dread to think what it was covered in! I can't imagine what "business travelers" must make of this. The hotel needs to join the 21st century in terms of technology. Right now, it is a bit of a dinosaur.
