This hotel was a lovely surprise!!A great deal online that we just stumbled on compared to alot of hotels at the moment, its a little dated but has a charm,we got one of the suites with a jacuzzi and a fire place and it was a lovely room that did not dissapoint, the food was lovely and they were very very accommodating to my ceoliac needs, the staff were just so friendly and genuine especially Orlaith the receptionist!!The spa was quite nice when you are not expecting too much but did not have its own showering facility you had to go to the ajoining gym which I thought was abit strange, but other then that a Lovely little break especially if you are on a budget but want a little luxury.

Stayed here with a friend for two nights and have to say overall the experience was very pleasant. Check-in was easy, we were about and hour early and that was not a problem for the staff. Breakfast was excellent. Staff extremely friendly. The only suggestion I would make is that they could perhaps consider putting duvets on the beds instead of blankets and perhaps the dining room could do with an overhaul. Would certainly return.

Donabate Portrane Senior Citizens have been staying there over the past five years and it is one of the best we have found. The staff are friendly and efficient, the service is excellent and the senior citizens are really well looked after.

Booked a room in the Carrickdale purely by chance, as we thought it a good place to stay to get some Christmas shoping in nearby Newry. We were both pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff (especially Sorcha at reception), as this is above and beyond the level of customer service generally offered by any hotel I have ever stayed in (I stay in hotels at least once a month due to work). We booked a suite for two nights and the room didn't dissapoint. We had an enormous room with an amazing view of the mountains, a jacuzzi and a massive plasma tv. We had dinner there both nights and I can honestly say that I have never had better from a hotel anywhere. If you know good food I would definitely recommend dinner here. We also used the gym and pool (which incorporates an amazing outdoor hot-tub) which is a godsend if you over-do it at the dinner table the previous night!!
Overall we found the Carrickdale to be a joy to spend time in, it's picturesque setting provides the perfect escape from the rat-race. It's the best kept secret on the east coast (so don't tell anyone! ha!)

Just arrived back from a weekend at this hotel. From beginning to end everything was excellent. The receptionist Orla told us about the hotel & what exactly was included in our package. We stayed in one of the executive suites & this was a very good choice. Lovely size room & bathroom also big. Only did not find the bed the best for sleeping.. Jacuzzi in bathroom was lovely & easy to use.
The food in the restaurant was really the best I have had in any hotel in Ireland & lots of it. Service in restaurant was of the highest order & you were asked at each course was it okay & if you required anything to make it better.
The leisure centre is also very nice & the outside Hot Tub is just great planning. To be in it at night when it is snowing & the lights in the garden are on is possibibly one the best experiences I & the wife have ever had. The pool in the leisure centre is spotless & they even have loungers to relax on beside the pool.
We did not try out the Spa as we had not got enough time, but we will next time we go back. The only down about the hotel is it`s location just outside Newry as you would require taxi`s to go out as there was no entertainment in the hotel when we were there. We will be back, that`s for sure.

We went to the hotel for a centenary dinner and found our stay faultless. Our room was perfect, comfortable and warm. I made good use of the leisure centre which has excellent facilities including an outdoor hot-tub - a real experience on a night that was -4!!

Breakfast was superb and really it was the staff and their willingness to go the extra mile that made our stay so good. Full marks to the management and staff who obviously understand good customer service.

Thanks again and i cant wait to go back!!
