This hotel must be one of the best we have stayed in, from the moment we stepped inside the staff could not do enough for us, our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the mountains, big room with everything including free safe, tea, coffee etc. lovely comfortable beds. There is a large indoor swimming pool and gym. We had two evening meals which were fabulous, no skimping on portions, in fact couldnt eat it all, shame. The waitresses and waiters so polite and attentive, obviously well trained in every aspect. This trip was for the purpose of a wedding. There are two parts to this hotel on either side of the road, an underpass separates the two so you can walk under instead of outside, it was well lit with lovely photos on the walls of all parts of Ireland, the gardens very large and beautifully laid out, very serene, ideal for any wedding. The entrance to the hotel is a turning off the motorway and well signposted.

Room Tip: If you want to overlook the mountains take a room with an odd number, we had 619 on the 4th floor, l...

Hi stopped here for one night as was attending a wedding. The grounds to the hotel are amazing, the outdoor space is spectacular. Not too far away to explore some of Ireland over the border. The food was amazing and staff fantastic.

Great hotel offering a non fussy but true IRISH hospitality at its best, a joy to visit again and again. We have visited on a number of occasions ie Sunday lunch, bar, wedding receptions and will keep returning.

Room Tip: Just give the receptionist a lists of your requirements and hey will endeavour to meet all your need...

We had our wedding at the Carrickdale Hotel last summer and returned this year for our first anniversary. I didn't post a review at the time of our wedding (I wish I had!) but we had a wonderful day - the entire experience was amazing, thanks to a gorgeous venue and a very efficient and committed staff. Our stay this time did not disappoint. We had booked a superior suite for two nights, which is well worth doing. The room has two sofas, a flat-screen TV, a fridge, a safe, temperature control and a very well-stocked bathroom, including a jacuzzi bath - it was identical to the suite that we stayed in for our wedding. We ate in the hotel restaurant on both nights - one night from the dinner menu, the other from the a la carte menu. The food was fabulous both nights - lots of choice - and they have an excellent selection of wines. On the first night, we returned to our room after dinner to find a bottle of prosecco and a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries sitting on the table, which was a lovely touch for our anniversary! All of the staff are so helpful and friendly - nothing is too much trouble. I also used the pool this time and would definitely recommend the outdoor hot tub!! A great, friendly hotel - thank you for a wonderful stay once again.

Room Tip: I would definitely recommend staying in one of the superior suites!

What a great hotel and good value for money. Stayed last week for 2 nights B&B/ 1 D at a great rate. From the telephone call to make the booking to checkout could not find a single bad thing to say about this Hotel. Orla on check-in was lovely as was the other receptionist on duty but we did not get her name. The room we had was lovely, very modern and had a lovely bathroom. We had dinner the first night of our stay and it was excellent, we had booked the package to include one dinner, but if you did not see anything on the dinner menu that you liked, you could pick of the a la carte menu up to a set value. Dinner was excellent and plenty of it, and all the waiting staff were friendly. We went to the bar after dinner and had a great night, lovely music and friendly staff.

Breakfast was lovely and fast service on both mornings. We ate in the bar the second night and again great food and great service. We did not have time to use the spa or pool on this visit but we did take a walk over and it looked good, we will use it on our next stay.

Location was very good short distance to either Dundalk or Newry.

The only thing i would say is that the staff should have name badges as we would know who to thank . We have already told our friends about the great place and value for money

Thank you for a great break and we will be back,

Room Tip: We had a view that looked out on to the road, we hear no road noise at all
