Dundalk is not really an impressive city (technically, it's a town since it doesn't have a cathedral but whatever) so I didn't really have high expectations. I ended up thoroughly enjoying this museum. It wasn't on TripAdvisor, so I added it.
To begin with, the staff are very friendly and willing to take your coat/bags/etc so you don't have to carry them around. They also tell you all about what exhibits are at the museum and the general layout rather than just hand you a map.
The building itself is very nice. It's a converted factory and they've done a very good job at transforming it into a museum. The collection is much larger than I had anticipated and covers Louth from prehistoric times all the way to present. Plenty to keep your attention for a couple hours.
The cost is €2 for an adult and €5 for a family.
