“Quality Tapas Bar”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Dropped into this place for a bite to eat and a pint one evening with the wife. Lovely pub with original flooring restored. Great tapas menu and all reasonably priced. They also have Blue Moon on draught which i love and is very hard to find in Dundalk!

Market Bar is a great place right beside the Market Square across from Dundalk Courthouse and it is well worth a visit.

“Great lunch in old style pub”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

Had enjoyable lunch here with a colleague, we each had one of the specials - chicken with garlic potatoes and string onions and my colleague had an excellent fresh hake. Prompt service and good freshly ground coffees to finish all at a good price in a stylish, old fashioned pub atmosphere. The restaurant specialises in Tapas which vary from small, starter type dishes to more substantial: would be good for lunch or early evening snack Spanish style.

“My new favourite”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

The market bar is my new favourite place for both lunch during the day and beer in the evening.
The tapas are a great way to kick off the night. Most pubs just want the "eating's cheating" brigade to cram in to every cubed centimeter of the pub and vie for the bar like pigs at a trough, so it's nice to see a bar that has good food and table service.
At lunchtime I usually get the soup and sandwich (ciabatta) deal which is fairly good value at €7. They also serve 1 or 2 actual meals during the day in addition to the tapas and sandwiches. Haven't tried one yet, but they look good.

“Great spot”
Reviewed October 16, 2013 via mobile

Went here on a tuesday night, first off the service was excellent, the waitress was very friendly, helpful and polite and did not rush us even once when we were the last in the place. The food was delicious, we had chicken wings, prawns pil pil, beef noodle stirfry and seafood risotto, couple pints of peroni and 3 glasses of wine, came to around 60 euro, very decent! Will definitely be going back for more
