We had our wedding reception in Ballymascanlon Hotel back in 1976 and we decided to return to celebrate our 41st anniversary. We hadn't been back to stay in the hotel since then, so I thought it would be a nice idea to return for a short stay as a starter to a tour around Northern Ireland. Accordingly, we booked a 2 night stay on a bed & breakfast basis with one dinner included.
When we arrived, we were treated like royalty. They upgraded us to the Garden Suite which is gorgeous. They also left a bottle of chilled sauvigon blanc and a hand written congratulatory card in the room. A really nice touch.
Our suite has beautiful views and all mod cons - free wifi, flatscreen tvs (2) Huge bathroom, living room etc...
The hotel is set in magnificent grounds with really nice walks out to a 5,000 year old dolmen. There's also a very picturesque golf course and a really nice spa and swimming pool, so all tastes are catered for.
We had dinner there on the Sunday night which was excellent, and a really top class breakfast both mornings.
The staff could not have been nicer. Warm and friendly and extremely helpful.
Overall I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and the people who run it. We had a wonderful two days and we would go back there in a heartbeat.More
