Had lunch here today. It was a really dreary day outside, rain lashing down, but inside......well let me start at the beginning. We had seen Fitzpatrick's on Tripadvisor when specifically looking for somewhere to eat near carlingford. The sample menu appealed so went looking for it. Fitzpatricks is easily found on the main Dundalk Carlingford road. Pulling into the large car park we immediately started laughing when we saw the array of Halloween decs. But that was only our introduction!! The whole place is bedecked with Halloween paraphernalia, from a horse drawn hearse to pumpkin faced bails.
Inside the decs were not just as prolific as the decor gives little room for extra decoration! It is fabulous. All manner of antique/olde worlds bits and bobs hanging from walls and ceiling. It's fascinating.
The menu is varied and caters for everyone. Initially I thought it a bit expensive but then remembered it was euro not Stirling. Also, while we waited for our lunch, we were brought bread and oils which were replenished.
My husband had seafood chowder and I had hot duck wrap. Both generous portions and delicious. To drink em had a large bottle of sparkling water. The bill came to €23. It did seem expensive but when you add in the breads which most places would charge as a starter, I thought it was actually value for money.
All things considered, service, surroundings, menu choice and value for money, we were very impressed and will definitely be back.
Oh, and if anyone does visit Fitzpatrick's, definitely visits the loo!!!! A whole other experience on top of the dining experience.
