Owner description: Garnish Island (Ilnacullin Garinish or Garnish) is located in the sheltered harbour of Glengarriff in Bantry Bay, in Southwest Ireland. Garnish is world renowned for its gardens which are laid out in beautiful walks and it has some stunning specimen plants which are rare in this climate.

The gardens are lovely especially the Italian and walled gardens and it was cool having the tower to climb. Expensive by the time you add on the boat ride. 40 euros for a family of 4.

Garnish Island was a nice surprise, and our group spent an enjoyable several hours exploring the beautiful gardens there. The boat trip out was also fun, with the sea lions bobbing around and looking at us inquisitively.

Went to Garinish Island by the ferry. Only took 15 mins to get across, but it was lovely. We saw the seals. Once on the Island we went round the gardens. Everything was well sign posted so you didn't miss anything. The staff for the ferry and on the Island were really friendly and very helpful. Would recommend that if you are around this area to go across.

Garnish Island is somewhere I have always wanted to see and it did not disappoint. It is such a gem and is a real treat for both children and adults alike. The boat trip out to the island is also part of the experience, watching the seals laze about on the rocks in the bay. Although we didn't have the best weather on the day, Garnish Island still had an ethereal feel about it. It seems that everything can grow on this little part of Bantry Bay and is a must for those avid gardeners. The children had a great time exploring all the gardens, they especially loved the steps up to the Martello tower and the tower itself. I would definitely go back and fingers crossed we'll have better weather!

Lovely garden and a great view of the seals en route. The boat trip is very calm and good value even if you are not a great one for getting into small boats.
