A short 10 minute boat ride took us to another world. The gardens are beautiful and the range of plants are incredible, including tropical growth. On the boat ride you have the bonus of seeing the seal colony on the rocks. We loved it!

“Oh Island in ..........”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

If you are going to Glengariff, it is a must to go over with the ferry to Garnish Island. There are two Ferries to go, we´ve taken the "Blue Pool Ferry"( close to Quills woolen market), two local Boatman drove us to the Island, if you are in a big group, ask for special prices to go over. The Island has different places to go, a nice Italian Garden, a temple in greek style with a wonderful viewing over Glengariff Harbour, the Mortello Tower with a strange echo inside and a nice roundview from the top, a fatastic impression is the Walled garden, lots of interesting known, forgotten or also unknown plants. You can take a picnic with you and there are lots of seats to have a break, also a tearoom to rest a little while. Go and enjoy!

“Excellent gem”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Everything, it is a little oasis! We have visited there 3 times in the last 4 years and each time we see a little something new, the island is great and the boat journey over with Bluepool is an extra bonus the crew were lovely.

“beautiful island gardens”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

The island is a short launch ride from Glengariff, with a view of a small seal colony. There is a variety of types of garden, with a formal Italianate garden, a walled garden, and less structured areas, including "The Jungle". It was easy to spend two hours there, with tea in the little tea room to finish with. A very enjoyable way for garden and small island lovers to spend an afternoon.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

The ferry ride out the Garinish Island (aka Garnish Island, aka Ilnacullin) takes you past many seals, basking in the sun, or leisurely swimming about the rocks.

The island itself takes about an hour to walk around, longer if you want to stop and really appreciate its beauty and serenity.

Well worth a visit for the views of Bantry bay and surrounding mountains!
