Owner description: The Ewe is a home - open to the public, entirely created & run by a couple. Ireland's only 'Interactive Natural History Museum-on-a-Mountain' is a must see for anyone interested in art, nature or a totally unique experience - the perfect destination for a relaxing, memorable day out. Set along a spectacular waterfall in the natural Eden of Glengarriff, the one-two hour trail offers visitors a chance to step off the treadmill, slow down and rediscover our beautiful but vulnerable natural world. It is a journey like no other. Explore the meandering pathways and hidden corners, where curious creatures gaze back as you pass. Take the Evolution Walk through the Valley of Eden, weave your way over bridges & discover a surprise at every turn. The creative haven of about six acres has been designed in four very different tiers up a mountainside - each with a theme: Water, Time, The Environment & Ancient Earth. Children welcome - please supervise for the safety & peaceful enjoyment of all.

On recommendation from the tourist office that our children would love the interactive aspect we visited The Ewe Experience. It is thoughtful and beautiful and clearly a lot of work has gone into creating it. However I felt on edge from the outset. Asked to read a message for our boys which included no running, to try and be quiet and not to throw stones! Obviously children
shouldn't throw stones. I was self conscious about my 4 yr old running ahead and shouting out each number along the trail. He climbed on a sculptor of a rhino and I nearly died! After a while my husband told me to lighten up! And I did. We loved the walk in the woods and would recommend it. It's just that I'm a primary teacher and I've taken 100's of kids on school tours and I never remember being asked anywhere for the children not to throw stones. Give them the benefit of the doubt and their parents too, it felt patronising to be asked to read the notice, as if to say these count for you too! and if its not suitable for little ones, explain
that. None of this had any impact on my boy's fun, they really enjoyed it!

A 1/2 walk or a short drive out of town is a very unique outdoor sculpture garden with a personal message from the designers. The garden is interactive and fun for both children and adults. It is worth it to see the grounds. You must look everywhere as you walk because there something hidden on the trail.

One of the highlights of our 4 months in Ireland!!! My husband and I stopped by expecting a nice garden and interactive art, but were blown away by how magical this place is! There is something for everyone... funky art, stunning natural beauty, carefully landscaped gardens, a bush walk, educational resources, information. I was both moved to tears by some of the messages, and cracked up laughing at some of the more entertaining parts of the garden! So inspiring, go with plenty of time so you can enjoy a break at the cafe, or play some of the super-sized games you will remember from your childhood. Bring some notes and coins as this is cash only - but cheap and worth every cent!
