This course provided a true initiation into golf in Ireland - challenging terrain, wonderful seaside vistas, changes in elevation, and a true links course. The day I played it also provided an initiation into Irish weather - we started in a gentle rain, which turned into a howling rainstorm before finally clearing as we played the last holes which provide spectacular coastline views. Not to be missed when planning a trip to the southwest of Ireland!

The Waterville Golf Links is a fantastic Irish golf course situated along the southern edge of the Ring of Kerry. It has a good practice area, Pro Shop and lounge/ restaurant upstairs. This is true Irish Golf with at least three changes of weather. The day we played it started out overcast, then a patch of sunshine, then mist, then rain, then sunshine, then overcast and finally finished with beautiful warm sunshine. Wear layers. Luckily we only had about 5-10 minutes of rain so by the time we got our gear out the shower was over. The course is amazing as it winds along around the peninsula. Each hole has a new challenge and a different view. Take time on some of the holes to enjoy the beauty of the area. The links course of course has lots of pot bunkers, plenty of tall grasses and hillsides to lose balls. We played as a twosome with a buggy and truly enjoyed our round of golf at Waterville. The course has some terrain changes but keeps you on your toes for each shot. Anyone visiting the Ring of Kerry area, Killarney or Tralee will definitely enjoy a round of golf at Waterville. We stayed at Waterville House which is a wonderful B&B owned and operated by the Waterville Golf Links. The town is small but has options for eateries.

Have visited Ireland on four occasions to play golf and have included Waterville in the play list every time and have not been disappointed. The course is tough but fair and offers the golfer choices true to the words "risk/reward. After a month of on again/off again rain, the course was still in excellent condition with no standing water and firm fairways. Combine the excellence of the course with a warm and friendly staff and Waterville will give you a golfing experiece you'll long rememmber.

I was able to experience a 'true' round at Waterville. Great Taylor Made rentals, warmed up chipping, putting and from hole 1-5 there was saturating rainfall. It cleared, the breeze and sun were out in time for me to dry off and have an unbelievable round of golf.
Something about this outing was extremely relaxing and spiritual for me. Possibly that I was in fact fortunate enough to be playing here, in Ireland, at Waterville, but it was much more. It is easily the top round of golf I have ever played.
Saw a lucky Hare bounding around and captured memories I hope to revisit for many years.
Thanks and I hope to see you again.

Thank Dan M
