I was looking forward to eating at Wineport as I had heard great reports. However, I found the experience somewhat disappointing. The setting is, without a doubt, one of the best in Ireland. From our table we had a panoramic view of the lake and the evening sky. However, the tranquility was compromised by a table of children who were making a lot of noise. The menu, while, a little confusing to figure our, had early bird price options, but the menu was limited and steak and lamb on the "signature dish" options came with a supplement price - why not just state the total price. The starters were really good and full of flavour. The mains, however, were quite average. We had pork belly and chicken. Both dishes were ok - nothing to complain about - but very lacking in flavour. If it had been served in a pub carvery I would have thought it was ok. Both dishes were lacking in any kind of flavour and were rather disappointing. Based on the experience we had, I would not go back.
