Top quality food prepared and presented with care & attention to detail - service was brilliant and the setting by the lake is stunning. Extensive wine list with lots of choice including quite a few at very reasonable prices. Overall a great meal & very good value for money

Was staying in the lodge for the May bank holiday weekend and dined in the restaurant on both nights. It was a surprise weekend for my husband's birthday. He had always talked about wanting to try the food and wine here as he's a real fan of the tv show The Resturant". Well it certainly did not live up to his or my expectation at all.
Starters were lovely on both nights but the mains were a huge let down, over cooked, tasteless and servered with so 80's sides of veg.
Most starters were 10 euros and others were 14. Most mains were 25 and some others carried a supplement of 6euros so....31 euros for striplion or rib eye!!!! Very poor choice of wine by the glass, cheap and nasty. Was expecting so much more considering their name.
Very small menu with little choice, we assumed, small menu so they could get them perfect....how wrong were we.
What was described on the menu is not what you get e.g chocolate mousse was a brownie with chocolate sauce/ganache poured over it.....this is just one example.
Better restaurants in glasson village at half the price.

The menu offered sufficient choice for the three nights of our visit without having to compromise in any way. We had very good steaks that were perfectly cooked to order. Monkfish with crab mayonnaise was very tasty and light and the pork belly was very well received too! The baked alaska was a 'hit' and I would recommend the creme brulee too. Breakfast was very good and we had never before seen a freshly cooked ham for carving each morning in addition to what could be considered the more usual offerings. And the home made marmalade was delicious!

Food here is AMAZING!But, be careful what you choose, as it can be very rich. Everything tastes good so you won't be leaving anything on your plate, so choose wisely!!!!Rooms are great too, the only downside I would say is their "bar" area. Very non-existant, small space, so no chance to mix/converse with other diners/hotel guest. This is a bit of a downer as normally in irish hotels, the crack can be good in the bar after dinner, not here. However, the scenery, service and friendliness of the staff makes up for their lack of bar!
