Guy's if you are any where near this restaurant please call in and get some of the best service and best food around. we had a table for 6 and when the starters came out, they were just fantastic, all 6 of us were delighted so far.
Then came the mains, 4 steaks and 2 fish, all were presented very well and the taste of the steaks were the best i have had this year, and then to the desserts, which again were excellent.

This is possibly the best meal we have had this year, service was excellent food was excellent and the wine was also very good, all in all one of the best restaurants around

Having heard rave reviews about this restaurant we looked forward to dining there. Our party sampled a range of dished from the menu and many to our dissatisfaction. The French onion soup lacked flavour, the beetroot and goats cheese salad was tasty but the portions were tiny. The monkfish and chorizo dish cost over €27. The fish was rubbery and bland, the two thin slices of chorizo made no impact and the mash was nondescript. It was such a disappointing dish, an opinion shared by three of us, and was not worth half so its exorbitant price.
As regards the service the waitresses themselves were nice and friendly but the lady who appeared to me to be the manager/owner treated us quite unprofessionally. Our requests
were treated as inconveniences to her. We drank wine and beer with our meal but when we asked for water it took too long to reach our table each time. The wine cooler arrived eventually when the white wine was almost gone. We left a 15% tip but in hindsight that was too much for the service received. Alternative dining experiences shall be sought out for our next gathering.

In the Main Street area of Athlone, on which is situated Sean's Pub as the oldest in Ireland, there are few choices for lunch in the mid afternoon. Fortunately, there is the Left Bank Bistro and its eclectic menu of home-cooked dishes. We began with the vegetarian spring rolls and buffalo wings, both extremely hot in temperature (though not spice) and accompanied by tasty soy or mayo dips. Then the mains. The Irish thin sliced steak on focaccia was a delight - full of flavour, perfectly grilled and served on fresh bread with fried onion, a delectable spring salad and roast potatoes. The butternut squash and ricotta bake was a disappointment, simply too dry and bland, though also accompanied by a good salad and those roast spuds. The Greek salad was a hit, which confirms this bistro's specialty really is the produce. The house-baked brown bread is spectacular. For four, with beer and wine for two, €66.

Had a yummy pesto cream pasta here from the specials board. Just beautiful. Possibly the nicest pasta dish ive had. Great service. Just a wee bit pricey though.

Was in this restaurant end of last year for a family event. Everything was perfect; food delicious but the staff stand out as being so helpful and friendly. If I was in Athlone again I would definitely visit this restaurant and would highly recommend it to others.
