“Finally made it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013

We only booked one night as a stopover on our way back home from Cork/Kerry but were reluctant to leave as our stay had been so enjoyable. We too had been given an upgrade to a lovely ground floor room with a terrace overlooking the lough. The room was the best equipped room we had stayed in during our 8 day holiday. The bed was very comfortable with soft pillows and duvet .There was a well stocked minibar and my husband appreciated the complimentary newspaper .The bathroom had a deep bath and a separate shower cubicle .We had booked an earlybird meal in the restaurant prior to arrival .It was good quality and nicely presented food. The breakfast buffet offered a lot of choice as well as freshly cooked to order options. The location is excellent , so peaceful and quiet with the occasional boat passing by or cruiser mooring at the jetty .We would like to revisit but hope to spend more time here next time.

We stayed here on the may bank holiday. It was a surprise break away for my husbands birthday. On arrival we were escorted to our room and once inside there was a letter from management explaining that we had been upgraded with compliments as it was my husbands birthday. The room was amazing with stunning views from our balcony. We were well looked after. There was a complimentary breakfast service to the room each morning at no extra cost, which came with complimentary news paper.
I've been in a lot of other hotels where all the little things are extra, here they are all part of your stay.
We also got free glass of presseco in the restaurant on the night of my husbands birthday.
Would definitely recommend to anyone who's looking for a place to just sit back and relax.

We spent three wonderful nights at Wineport Lodge and left there feeling thoroughly relaxed. My parents in law (both in their early 90's) were given so much attention that they thrived on it and would love to return soon. Our rooms were upgraded which meant that we had a sitting area with balcony directly overlooking the lake and pergola. The quality of all the fittings and furnishings in our rooms was excellent and the attention to detail simply superb - a daily jug of fresh milk in your fridge so that you don't have to suffer that UHT milk when making a cup of tea! The warmth and friendliness of all the staff was amazing and we were made so comfortable. It is a very delicate balance to be familiar and friendly without overstepping the professional mark and Wineport Lodge got that perfectly! A facial in the small but lovely spa was excellent too. Food was very good with local and seasonal produce as it should be. It was charming to see fresh fish being delivered by boat! This was one of the best hotel stays we have had in a long time and probably the very best in Ireland. We'll certainly hope to return. Thank you to Norma and the team.

Room Tip: All rooms have a lake view and if you can afford the upgrade to either Pauillac or Margaux rooms it...

They say first impressions last, my first contact with the Wineport was by telephone and the person on the phone made a very good first impression. Other hotels should take note of how important it is to have a professional answering the phones.
Our room was very comfortable and overlooked the lake, the restaurant was fine but lacks a little finesse in the kitchen and the service throughout our stay was professional.
The Wineport is very relaxing, comfortable and I look forward to a return visit in the future.

We recently celebrated our wedding at the wineport lodge. Could not fault the place. Everything from the staff, the food and the scenery was brilliant. Also the cleanest hotel i have ever stayed in. Thank you for a wonderful day. Alan Whelan

We spent two nights in the Wineport Lodge recently to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was simply gorgeous. The location of the hotel on the shores of Lough Ree is beautiful and we got a lovely welcome from the Staff at Reception. We were also surprised and delighted to hear that we got an upgrade in our room to a deluxe lakeshore suite with a walk-in wardrobe and a fantastic view of the lake. The bed was the most comfortable I ever slept in and the peace and tranquility of the location meant that we started to relax straight away. The bathroom was large, had a separate bath and shower, and underfloor heating - real luxury!

We ate in the bar the first night. The menu is limited but good - try the excellent chips! On our second night we ate in the restaurant as part of our package. I can't find any fault with the food at all, and making a fuss of my husband on his birthday with a candle in his dessert was a lovely touch!

Breakfast is served in the dining room, but if you want to treat yourself, you can have it delivered to your room at no extra cost. Highly recommended!

The Staff really go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. If you're feeling energetic you can go on one of the walks that they recommend, but really for us the highlight was just sitting on our balcony or in our room enjoying the view and the peacefulness.

Congratulations to Norma, the manager, and to all her staff who made our stay such an enjoyable one. If you're looking to wind down on a getaway break, this really is the place to come to! While it is expensive, it's worth every cent.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms - all have a view of the lake and their own private balcony.

I was back to visit the Wineport recently for my second time. And was I glad! From the minute you step out of your car at this beautifully located Lodge, you are surrounded by a true sense of relaxation and tranquility. This is reflected by the outside surroundings with the wonderful lake view, but carries throughout the interior of the hotel, in it's decor, the tone and manner of the staff....and of course set off beautifully by the taste of the food. The menu is varied, and the flavours are divine. I am not what you would describe as a "foody", but even i could distingush that this kitchen is a cut above the rest. This is a very special venue, and I would highly recommend a visit, if you are looking for something a little bit special, or want to treat someone in your life. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, bar one person at reception. Special compliments to Norma, who oversees everything in a highly professional fashion. Well done Wineport. I look forward to my next visit, hopefully not in the too distant future!
