Stopped on the way to Galway! We were cold and hungry! The soup was just what we needed and the sandwich was full of fillings and really fresh, so coffee and dessert were a must!! We will be back...Soon!

Stopped here the other day based on information from previous reviews. We knew we would be passing through Athlone mid morning and were looking for a place that would do a nice breakfast and chose here from information on Tripadvisor, Have to say that we were delighted with our choice. Its a small little cafe but that doesnt stop it having loads to offer. There is a great selection availabe on the menu from breakfast right through to lunch.
We were greeted with a warm hello when we entered and chose our seat and decided what to have. We were given enough time to choose what we wanted and when our waitress did arrive she was extemely friendly and very pleasant. She had no problem taking one of our orders that wasnt exactly on the menu but was a bit tailor made. The food arrived piping hot and was easily noticed that it was cooked fresh to order. Free refils are availabe on tea and coffee orders for sit in diners and i have to say that a simple offer like this makes a huge difference and has a very positive impact on a diners expierence.
Overall we really enjoyed our visit here and cant wait to visit again to try out the lunchtime offering. We now know where to stop anytime we are passing through Athlone again. Just one small piece of advice is that they do not accept laser/credit cards. We found that out the hard way but once again their customer service triumphed as the let us leave to go to ATM and trusted us to return to pay.

Earlier this month whilst passing through Athlone, my friend & I stopped at this cafe.
Upon entering we were greeted by a staff member to inform us that they were full but if we would like to wait a couple of minutes we would be seated, true to her word 5 minutes later we were. It was the middle of lunch & there was a nice atmosphere to the cafe. We decided to have toasted sandwiches & soup as we weren't overly hungry. The menu was very reasonably priced for the selections available. Our drinks were promptly served by a very friendly server. When our food arrived we were a little disappointed as both our orders were wrong. I had asked for tomato relish, which was missing whilst my friend asked for no butter only mayo. His bread had butter. There was salad hanging from the plates & the crisp garnish was more like crisp dust garnish. The lettuce was a little past its best. Overall though not a bad little place to eat....we will give it another go soon

I have visited Java Joes on many occasions with friends and family and I have to say it one of the best restaurants in the town, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is outstanding and reasonably priced, it caters for all ages, i know this as i have two small kids and they can't do enough for us when we have the kids with us. I recommend this restaurant anytime I am asked where is best to eat in town.
