“Very tasty, a veritable feast”

The steak here is a wholesome experience. Running a restaurant in this part of Westmeath is competitive and The Fatted Calf competes very well. Most enjoyable experience.

“11 out of 10!!”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

WOW...this unassuming little gem of a place produced one of the nicest meals I have had in a very long time. I wanted to order everything on the menu but decided to have the special starter...scallops with slow cooked pork (it was like a very tender rib off the bone) for main I had braised shoulder of lamb with 5 different types of carrots, fresh peas and baby potatoes. The lamb didnt require a knife....it was devine!!
No room for dessert. The staff were very pleasent and attentive. Thank you. If you are in Glasson..well worth a meal. :)

“very tasty food”
Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

I have eaten here 4 times, the food really is worth a detour, some of the most basic food like chicken ceaser salad and burgers taste better here than anywhere else! If you want to really enjoy your meal maybe avoid Saturday and Sunday lunch as it is packed. Well worth a visit.

“Pleasant Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We just called in on spec last Sunday without a reservation and we were accommodated with a table for 2 at 1.00 p.m. They did advise that they were expecting a large group at 3 p.m. and would need the table back by then. We had no problem with this. We shared a lovely starter of Prawn Wantons - very nice. For mains we had the Beer Battered Cod and Chips with a lovely pea and mint puree and leg of spring lamb which was delicious!
