“High end pub food”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

I have visited the Fatted Calf on several occasions over the past year and always enjoy the good service and excellent food. They have a daily list of specials on the blackboard and I am often tempted by the aged fillet steak which is always cooked to perfection. Prices are fair. Can get a bit crowded especially if large groups or families are in (popular with locals for birthdays etc).

“Food fantastic - service let it down & not as kid friendly as expected”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Food was excellent - couldn't fault it - unfortunately service was awful.
We asked for kids meals to be brought with our starters, after asking it was finally brought when we were finished, my kids were crying with hunger watching us eat - i was not impressed - had to chase up kids side orders & for extra bread as kids portion was minute (6 & 3 yr old girls!) 2 very thin small slices of roast beef - not adequate for cost of kids meal.

“Fantastic Dinner!”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Myself and my bridesmaids had dinner in this restaurant the evening before I got married in a nearby hotel. We all thought the meal was really delicious and fantastic value. The service was excellent and the restaurant itself is really charming. I recommended it so much to our halr and make up ladies the next morning that they decided to stop off there themselves for lunch together on the way home! Would definitely return.

“Didn't eat here but it's a great spot for a beer”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

popped in here for an afternoon pint during recent visit to the area. The restaurant part was busy & buzzing but we had already eaten & just wanted a drink. There's a good selection of craft beers as well as all the usuals - lovely pub, great chat with couple of locals, game of pool ...would've liked to stay for a few more - definitely worth a visit if you're in the area

“Great Lunch”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Popped in for Saturday lunch. The restaurant was busy and a nice atmosphere to brightened the day, Excellent variety of food to suit all tastes. Staff were friendly and efficient. We had some excellent soups, chowder, salads to start, nicely flavoured and accompanied by some homemade signature breads. Main courses were freshly prepared and accompanied by wholesome sides. Overall a pleasant lunch experience. We digested all with a delightful browse in the craft shop across the road. Certainly worth leaving the motorway.
