There are plenty of restaurants in Athlone where you can have good old boring pork belly, pasta in Italiantype restaurant and the once original Thai and Chinese restaurants have becomerather cliched, what's great about this authentic Lebanese restaurant on BastionStreet behind Sean's bar in Athlone is they have a terrific amount of Lebanesespecialities and the food was just so full of robust, full flavours and likemost Mediterranean countries, they deliver exactly what it says on the tin.
We had awonderful selection of starters known as Mezzes and really got into wonderfullyfresh Tabbouleh made with finely chopped flat parsley, diced tomatoes and greenonion tasked with Bulgar cracked wheat and seasoned with fresh mint freshly squeezed lemon juice and olive oil, Sanbouseckwhich is fried pastry stuffed with feta and parsley served with salad, BatinjanMtabel , Baba Ganuge,a really tasty smoked aubergine dip with tahini sauce, garlicand lemon juice served with a crispy and most delicious Lebanese bread thattasted like more.
Main courseconsisted of great Kafta, minced lamb with parsley, onion, spices and organicpotatoes topped with freshly sliced tomato and giving tomato and oven baked toperfection.
Absolutely delighted to come across his terrific really authenticLebanese restaurant and really impressedwith high quality and flavour and in particular the prices here are just so soreasonable.
