It was an OK place to stay. The hotel is old and so are all of its furnishings. It was clean and comfortable but had so much that needed to be updated. I don't think it was worth the $109 euro we paid for the room but we were tired and needed a place to rest our heads. The staff was pleasant at the front desk. Our waiter at breakfast, some man...russian maybe? was quite rude and my sister and I never have a problem with people and are always polite. Anyway, the hotel seemed to have a lot of history and the style feel to it. Price could have been a little better especially seeing how the town was dead and only tour buses came through. I wouldn't recommend to stay here.

we came in with 47 other people on a bus trip(David Urqhuart). my wife and i thought the hotel was lovely, the restaurant staff superb( they were very friendly ,and would do anything for the customers). the food was great, and plenty. we must admit , we were disappointed with the entertainment, but the barman paddy was a good craic. all in all we had a great time. yes the rooms were old fashioned, but you are not in your room that often are you? , only for sleeping and showers lol.

I stayed at the Imperial with a group of 41 tourists, this hotel was very unique in that there was not one complaint from anybody about anything!!!

The hotel was clean, the rooms were very nice with tea making kit and hair dryer, no, the rooms are not ultra modern, infact they are quite dated, but then again it is an old hotel.

The food was absolutley superb with generous portions, in fact if you wanted more all you had to do was ask because the staff, although mainly Polish, were extremely helpful and effecient, probably some of the best staff I have encountered.

The only slight downside was the evening entertainment which to be honest was poor.

The hotels location is superb for exploring the Burren area and Co Clare in general.

Top Hotel for sure.

Went here on a bus tour 2-8th sep 07 during the matchmaking festival. We stayed at the Imperial Hotel. On arrival there was no welcome and the lift wasnt working so you had up to 3 flights of steep stairs to carry a case. The room we had was a twin, very basic with a tiled ensuite. i should say part tiled as most of them were cracked and the shower wasnt up to much. Food ok but basic.Nice lounge area at front window. The staff were very nice but were mostly polish and didnt understand us. The drinking and dancing starts early afternoon and goes on till about 2am, later at weekends. Its great fun and the irish are very friendly but beware if you dont like a lot of attention from men constantly because alot of farmers and other so-called single men are there for a wife or fun and the words 'mating season 'were used alot. If your not looking for a partner and your thick skinned you will have a great time. Some nice wee shops and cafe's , spa well, nice walks.
