“Not sure why this one is not number 1”

We stayed and ate at sheedy's. I'll review the hotel in another review. The food here is surprisingly great. This is not a really highly populated area of Ireland and this restaurant rivals any if the "big city restaurants". If you are going to see the "cliffs of morrer", please stop here and see Martina and John. We had the pan seared hake (by far the best we had in Ireland and it WAS in season while we were there). We also had the scallops that were so sweet they melted in your mouth. The service is about the best we got while in Ireland. Don't pass this place up!

“Yes, please”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

Terrific inn, terrific restaurant. You might think, as we did, that Irish food is all fish and chips and beef pie. And you might, as we did, have low expectations of a restaurant in a relatively countrified place like Lisdoonvarna. But at Sheedy's we ate the best food of our trip to Ireland. Everything was wonderful--from the full Irish breakfast to porridge served with Irish whiskey to carefully prepared fish dishes and desserts. My very favorite dish here was a salad with bleu cheese, tender greens, and poached pears with a hint of cinnamon.

“Quiet but good”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

We were seated in the bar for our meal and were the only ones there. In spite of the quiet (we usually like a hum of conversation) we did enjoy the evening. There seemed to be other guests upstairs in the restaurant and others in another room which seemed strange to us. Surely it is easier to deal with customers all in the same room? The owner was very pleasant and very attentive. We both had fish and chips and the batter surrounding the fish was lovely and light. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the quiet evening

“The BEST!!! food we ate in Ireland”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

We had dinner today at Sheedy's Country House. We saw that this place gets super high reviews, an this kind of place always makes me a little suspicious, but we went there anyway. we were not very hungry due to a late lunch, so we decided to go with starters and desert. we had a very good risotto - the rice was soft but not overcooked. the flavor was full and not too dominant. a very good dish indeed, and that was the least shiny star in our culinary heaven. with the risotto arrived a duck confit which was just sublime. so tasty and delicate, my English is not good enough to describe it. we had a third starter which was Crab claws, and if the meal up till now was very good, this course made it exceptional. I am a big fan of anything and everything that comes from the sea, and this one was a great example for all the reasons of this love. it was so fresh, and full with tastes and just great. we finished the meal with very good double espresso (not an easy task to find good coffee in Ireland) and good Lemon Posset.
Go eat at Sheedy's in Ireland. you will thank me. nah, you will thank them. i am just writing a recommendation.
