“Expensive dump!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Myself & my sister stayed there while attending a hen party in Lisdoonvarna over the Singles weekend festival and the overall experience was quite disapponting.
We arrived just before 5pm on the Saturday afternoon and the first thing we encountered was not unlike 'Fort Knox; ..... All 3 door bolted shut and it took 5 minutes for someone to answer. When we joked about this we were told sternly that the doors are kept shut from 3-5pm daily. The busiest weekend of the year?!!
Up to the room which was at best quite basic. It was a twin bedded room, quite pokey with an ancient television and furniture that had seen better days. As it was a very warm day my sister attempted to open the archaic windows only to have them slam down on the fingers .... Not a great start!
It was emphasised that the front door must be locked upon entering and leaving which was fair enough. When we returned home from the night out I went upstairs with the intention of coming back down immediately to get something out of the car and obviously I hadn't locked the door as I was going straight back down ..... However in the meantime the owner had been down and locked the door ahead of me and greeted me grumpily in the hall over this.
Breakfast was adequate but it was all topped off when it came to checking out! We were booked in under a group booking for €50 pp. However, when paying we were asked for €60 each which I considered absolute extortion. This establishment lists €40pps as their rates on their website but I guess it was lets milk it given the busy weekend. I could have stayed at a top hotel in a major city for the amount!
Overall experience shocking ..... Overcharged and underdelivered

Whilst browsing the Internet to find a destination for a family celebration, it was our good fortune to hit on "The Wild Honey Inn". Charming accommodation with a relaxed ambiance not forgetting the delicious breakfast menu with scrambeld eggs, French toast (to mention but a few) the like we had never encountered before. The highlight however has to be the evening menus - a variety of food cooked to perfection by an Expert. Thank you Aidan. We could not recommend your and Kate's "bijou" highly enough. You deserve all the "accolades" you have been awarded. We will definately be back. Noirin and Michel from Marseille (South of France)

This is a review of two halves. We booked into the Wild Honey Inn for 2 nights for a special occasion as we had heard great things about the food in the restaurant. The Wild Honey Inn appears to me to be a restaurant set in a bar rather than a bar serving food. The food was indeed excellent on the two nights we ate dinner there. The only thing that let it down was the service, the lady who served us was friendly but was rushed off her feet and was only new to the job so had to check a couple of things with the lady who runs the business. The breakfasts were also very good.
Sadly, we found the accommodation to be somewhat lacking and in our opinion, slightly expensive for what it was. We had the garden room, closest to the breakfast area, which with the creaking floorboards and proximity to the breakfast room and the bar toilets (where I heard the hand dryers going off numerous times from the gents toilets) proved to be a little noisy. The room itself was tastefully decorated, although there were a number of dust rats hanging out of the ceiling and the lampshades were also dusty. The bath panel in the bathroom was falling off at the shower end; probably a result of the leaking shower. The welcome we received was fine but not at all warm. Also, we had to query the room charge as we were not given a written down total when paying and were nearly over charged by €18. We would return but only for a meal.

Wow. What wonderful time we had in the wild honey inn, the room was comfy, classy and all you could want was available . Lovely decor . Our dining experience was as expected, amazing! Great food, v well presented, great flavours, great choices. Lovely wines. So relaxing, chilled out in the residents lounge, perfect. Breakfast room overlooking the garden was a perfect finish to a memorable stay . Can't wait to go back. A big thank you to all. A & M

Hi Everybody,

My family and I (wife and two kids ) spent last night (Saturday 11th of Aug) at the WILD HONEY INN and we weren't dissappointed from the moment we arrivied to when we left. The experience was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much. The accommodation was excellent ie spotless, very comfortable and homey. We had our evening meal in the bar last night and it was cracking.I' d recommend the fillet of lamb's neck. This morning we had a breakfast which was scrumptious.Last but not least Kate (the owner) is probably one of the nicest hosts we have encountered over the years very genuine hence the title of my review REAL PEOPLE.

We're just back from a wonderful relaxing weekned in Co Clare. We booked 2 nights in the Wild Honey Inn with our friends but were so inpressed we decided to stay an extra night!! We're always on the hunt for good food restaurants around Ireland and we hit the jackpot here!!
The wild honey is definitely all about the food. The smoked salmon was to die for infact everything on the menu was just amazing. The wine list wasn't overwhelming and the choices were excellent in white & red and the ports. The ambience in the bar was relaxed, complimented by an eclectic choice of music that played in the background. The staff were so friendly and accomodating to all our needs, thumbs up to Leona, Sophie and Sue there!
The food was well priced for the quality and presentation and attention that so obviously went into the food.
The accomodation was equally well priced, the rooms clean & comfortable, the breakfast on a par with the evening meals, we sat over breakfast for about an hour chatting no pressure to clear over tables by the staff which is lovley.
I'd highly recommend this place to everyone. We are already planning our return, well done to Kate & Aidan.

Stayed for 2 nights recently and adored the food. Scallops to die for/steak superb. Breakfast also excellent. I am telling everyone to go there if they are anywhere near Co Clare. Kate and Aidan are a truly lovely couple and they deserve all the accolades. Will be returning for sure.
