Description: PUB OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND 10AM TILL LATE FOOD SERVED FROM MARCH UNTIL NOVEMBER 12-4 6-9 EVERYDAY Last orders 8.45 In spring 2011, Peter Curtin embarked on a new endeavour: He set up the Burren Brewery in the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna. The building, which in 1865 started off as a pub, then was expanded into a bakery, now also harbours a micro-brewery under its roof. At the same time it is an eatery and a renowned music venue for traditional and contemporary music. Peter realised very quickly how complicated and time-consuming it was to brew his own beer - it really is a labour of love. He enrolled the help of a Master Brewer, and the result can now be tasted in the Roadside Tavern: The Burren Gold is a delicious, characterful lager. The mainstream lagers available every-where just cannot compete with this one!The Burren Red with its great red colour is a spicy, slightly sweet ale which even features a hint of smoke. It seems to become the favourite among the punters at the Roadside! The Burren Black is a stout that does not have to fear the competition of a certain other black stuff. It is smooth and full-bodied, with a creamy crown of froth on top - and definitely alive inside! A heavenly drink.

“Best Micro-brew in Ireland”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

This lovely establishment is completely worth going out of your way for. Our experience with local micro brew beer in Ireland hasn't been great, but this place made up for it. Excellent beers, incredible seafood (from the Burren smokehouse right next door) and I think they're even working on a line of ciders now. This really is the 'real deal' for local food & drink and the owner couldn't be friendlier.

“Reasonable prices, excellent food, and pleasant atmosphere”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

This gastro-pub was a welcome and unexpected highlight of our trip to Clare. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, and the value for money was particularly good. Unfortunately there was no gluten-free dessert and some delay in information about vegetarian and coeliac-friendly options. Great beer, brewed on site.

“A great find”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

With their own microbrewery on-site producing a few quality beers, and excellent food, this pub is a must if you're in the area. The seafood is a highlight, and the beef stew was also excellent.

“Great Place to go for Evening Fun”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Walking around this quaint quiet town, it is hard to believe that for one month a year that it is packed with thousands of people. We couldn't find a thing to do in the evenings so I couldn't begin to explain how thrilled we were to happen upon this tavern. Great atmosphere, friendly staff - and the food! It was our last night and we wanted to try traditional bacon & cabbage and Irish stew. We were a little hesitant to try it at a tavern, thinking it would just be so-so, but wow! The dinners were top quality. To this day I am still trying to copy cooking these dishes at home - they were that good. We had quite a bit of fun through the evening talking with people from other countries and joking with the staff. This is THE place to go in Lisdoonvarna for evening entertainment.

“Come to Lisdoonvana just to visit this pub/restaurant , definitely worth it!”
Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

We came here on recommendation of good food on Trip Advisor and it surpassed our expectations. 6 of us arrived and had a lovely greeting by men sat at the bar and were great banter. Good sign already- nice happy patrons! We started with Guinness and their own home brew which is worth a taste. We ordered 2 fish&chips, 2 bacon and cabbage, stew and their vegetarian goats cheese option. The fish was light and fresh, the bacon and cabbage was presented beautifully and very tasty, the buttery sauce was a bit rich for us but was still Delish. The goats cheese was lovely. The stew was outstanding , proper Irish beef stew. All out dishes were licked clean. Dessert was homemade ice cream. One was stout and one rubarb. Yum yum and yum. The man who served us and who I think was in charge, I never got his name was so so lovely and chatty. He knew so much about the food and was genuinely interested in us and our opinion on the food. He is great at his job and we had a great night because of him and his bar. Thank you to all in the roadside tavern for a great Lisdoon experience!
