We were tourung the west and driving through Oughterard. We stopped for some lunch .Very impressed how clean the bar was its more a cafe/bistro than traditional pub. I had wonderful chowder and my partner had the fish and chips ,both scrummy. It was bucketing down outside so we asked to see a room . We were very impressed for the price quoted 35 euro each including breakfast. So we booked in . We had a lovely stay and a few nice creamy pints.Would def stop again.

The Boat Inn is a nice little downtown tavern inn. It was very nice and quaint, right in the main square of Oughterard. The bar and food were quite good and Rory is a great host. Very knowledgeable and helpful and we had a great Irish breakfast. The heat was broken for a bit at night but they informed us right away and had it fixed fairly quickly. It is a bit noisy at night due to deliveries for the grocery store across the street. Nice areas to walk around down to the river and Loch. Centrally located in Connemara and a good place to base your exploration of the West of Ireland. Rory has great suggestions and information, be sure to ask him.

Perfect place to relax after a mucky day at Derroura woods mountain biking! Cosy simple room, yummy chowder, Connemara lamb and a few pints of Guinness in a very welcoming, homey West style type of pub! Followed by a full Irish the next day! Perfect!

For the 15years of my childhood me and my family alway came to oughterard (rushneey) to visit my family i have here guranteed every summer for 3-4 weeks.
i hadnt been "home" in about 7 years. the reson i put home in brackets speech is because the village is still the same as i remeber as a child.
but too top it all off the boat inn was a outstandign place to stay & the staff are amazing.
Karen heard the news from my uncle before i even got back to the hotel gave me a massive hug & my partner.
the level of service is outstanding i did think it was a little bit pricey but the service & the welcome you get makes you not even contemplate the price.
i would recommened it to any one i know.
so much so me & danny are thinking about having our wedding reception at the boat inn if we choose to get married in Ireland.

The welcome was ok,we had a very nice dinner in the bar, but.... the rooms were simple, without any luxery, and NO hot water! We stayed here with 16 peoples and only the first 2 showers were warm!!! The other peoples couldn't take a shower! The breakfast was the poorest breakfast we've had in Ireland! We had to wait very long '(we asked to have breakfast at 8 o'clock and it wasn't ready untill 8h30.) and there was only 1 liter juice for 16 peoples! there wasn't enough staff to serve us. We waited for 20 minutes to bring more toast and so we finished our breakfast without bread. They also served the braekfast on the very little tabels in the bar, while the restaurant on the other side of the building stayed closed!!! I don't know what went wrong, but we were disappointed! The previous reviews were very positive and we expected more!!!

We stayed as part of an aging but enthusiastic rugby team in Feb 2013. Well, enthusiastic for post-match activities! Couldn't praise Boat Inn and staff highly enough under every heading.
We plan on making pilgrimmage to Boat Inn an annual event. Thanks to all at Boat Inn from Clonmel RFC.

Since dining at the Boat Inn in July 2012, my wife and I have stayed there frequently. The Boat is located in the centre of the busy small town of Oughterard which is close to Lough Corrib. The welcome at the inn is always warm. The rooms are comfortable and kept spotless. On the rare occasions that problems arise, Rory is on the case straight away. The bar and restaurant staff are very efficient and friendly and the food is still top notch. Looking forward to our next stay.
