We've spoken to Jonathan the owner a couple of times on our way though Howth on previous occasions and had been shown the rooms. This time we were able to avail ourselves of his hospitality. We had a spacious modern, light, twin bedded room at the front of the building with great views throuh the velux windows over the pier and sea. Very comfortable beds and the power shower was fantastic. Very invigorating. Jonathan served a continental breakfast of juice, cereal and ample amounts of hot tea and toast.
Bessie the dog is always eager to gently greet you on your return and is very friendly. Howth is a very pleasant seaside village with several good eating venues and has certainly an upmarket feel about it.
For those arriving at Dublin Airport the number 102 bus will take you to Sutton rail station where you can cross the line and get the DART train to Howth just 5 minutes down the line. The 102 goes round the coast by Malahide with great views across the sandy bays. A great way to see the area and takes about an hour. Well worth it at 2.20 euros as opposed to 30 euros by taxi. The Number 31 bus from Howth goes straight into Dublin town centre stopping at O'Connell Street and the DART train takes you to Connelly Station. Worth getting bus passes if you are there for more than a day. We'll certainly be returning to Ann's very soon and hope to have more time to explore Howth!
