“Oh! The Power Shower!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2009

We've spoken to Jonathan the owner a couple of times on our way though Howth on previous occasions and had been shown the rooms. This time we were able to avail ourselves of his hospitality. We had a spacious modern, light, twin bedded room at the front of the building with great views throuh the velux windows over the pier and sea. Very comfortable beds and the power shower was fantastic. Very invigorating. Jonathan served a continental breakfast of juice, cereal and ample amounts of hot tea and toast.
Bessie the dog is always eager to gently greet you on your return and is very friendly. Howth is a very pleasant seaside village with several good eating venues and has certainly an upmarket feel about it.
For those arriving at Dublin Airport the number 102 bus will take you to Sutton rail station where you can cross the line and get the DART train to Howth just 5 minutes down the line. The 102 goes round the coast by Malahide with great views across the sandy bays. A great way to see the area and takes about an hour. Well worth it at 2.20 euros as opposed to 30 euros by taxi. The Number 31 bus from Howth goes straight into Dublin town centre stopping at O'Connell Street and the DART train takes you to Connelly Station. Worth getting bus passes if you are there for more than a day. We'll certainly be returning to Ann's very soon and hope to have more time to explore Howth!

We planned a four day trip to Dublin and decided to stay in Howth because of a friend's advice. I am so glad we did, because we absolutely loved Ann's of Howth. The area is so nice with a bunch of pubs/restaurants and no matter where you are, you have a great view. The b&b itself is very nice and clean and the owners are great and resourceful. The rooms are a good size for European standards and the shower pressure was awesome. Ann's is just about 5 minutes from the Dart station and it takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Dublin. I would not pass this place up and if I ever return to Ireland we will def be staying at Ann's of Howth....Hello to John from all the fun Nicaraguans, we had a great time!

Ann's of Howth doesn't serve breakfast anymore. The two front rooms have a very nice view of the harbour and good showers. We payed 80 euro for each room for one night, much cheaper than King Sitric with almost the same view (but they do serve a great breakfast). We stayed at Ann's because it is close to Dublin International Airport (20 minutes). So if you don't mind to have your breakfast elsewhere, Ann's is a good choice.

I stayed at Ann's for the final days of a three-week trip around Ireland. I had passed through Howth briefly two weeks before and was glad that I would be returning. I was there to explore Newgrange and the surrounding area, having been in Dublin already.

The B&B faces the pier, above a souvenir/ice cream shop which Jonathan and Una also own and operate. My room was clean, up-to-date, and in good condition, with probably the most modern bathroom I had encountered since leaving Dublin two weeks before. My room was on the back of the building and so didn't have a harbor view, but I didn't mind.

Breakfast is served in the sitting room, whose large windows overlook the harbor. The fried ham in Una's Irish breakfast was the best I had during my trip, and she's apparently got a source for wonderful fresh fruit.

Una and Jonathan are a kindly, solicitous pair, unobtrusive but always happy to help, and their little dog, Bessie, was adorable.

The only negative was that I had trouble parking the evening I arrived. It was a beautiful, warm night, and it looked as though hordes of Dubliners had made the trip to take a walk on the pier. Later that night, though, and for the rest of my stay, parking was always available no more than a block away.

Ann's really is a super little place, it offers great value and whats more an outstanding location. ( Try to get one the two rooms on the front, the views of Howth harbour are really stunning.) Una and Jonathon are a really nice couple friendly and chatty, without being too chatty, and as Jonathon is a native of Howth VERY knowledgeable about the local area. The breakfasts are however something else ! Fresh fruit and Cereal to start, full Irish, loads of toast, loads of tea and coffee.
I dont often recomend places in my Tripadvisor posts, but Ann's is a must !

We stayed here two weeks ago and loved it. Dublin is so busy and crowded, it was nice to come back to the sleepy fishing villiage of Howth. Our hosts, Jonathan and Una were fantastic. They filled our mornings with good Irish breakfasts and great stories about the area. As a bonus, the B & B is directly above a coffee/candy shop where you can get a nice coffee or soft serve ice cream later in the day. Finally, they're only a 5 minutes from the DART, so getting to the city centre was easy and only 20 minutes drive to the airport. A very convenient location with the charm of a fishing villiage/harbor. Great food in Howth as well. I would highly recommend staying here if you're touring the Dublin area.

We stayed at Ann's of Howth in March 2005 having prevously stayed at a number of other establishments in the area and found it to be the most pleasant and comfortable. The rooms are well presented with heated flooring, on the first floor with lift access
Breakfast was excellent with a good a good variety and nothing was too much trouble for owners Una & John.
Howth is a nice place to stay with a wide variety of eating establishment and nice friendly pubs and excellent as a base to vist Dubln, with the Dart on the doorstep.
