This was our first visit to Findlaters and honestly, we won't be in a rush to return. I had the pan- fried crab claws and prawns in garlic butter and my husband ordered fish and chips. They were nice but nothing extraordinary, very little prawns for the price and three miniscule pieces of toast and the fish and chips the same, nice but really nothing that would make me say wow. Then come the huge minuses - starting with the kids' menu. As far as I can remember. it said a cordial or some juice included in the price, never appeared on the table. We ordered bangers, mash and gravy, got five overcooked coctail sausages and chips that came straight from the plastic bag bought in a supermarket. Dry and overfried. They brought mash later on but the gravy never came, instead they brought ketchup. The service was very poor in general. The girls are nice but it feels like they only started working as waitresses yesterday. We ordered tea at our arrival as the weather was so miserable. Only came at the end when I asked for it again. And the food took ages to arrive even though the reastaurant was almost empty.
Except for the absolute disregard and disrespect to children as customers who also should be served a decent food that most Irish restaurants seem to suffer from anyway, it certainly wasn't a culinary disaster but it wouldn't be my first choice to eat in Howth with so many decent places to eat.
