My family and I stayed at Deer Park in Early Sept. 2012. The service was excellent, people friendly, and helpfull ! The golf courses were in out standing condition! The Hotel is in close proxcimity to downtown Dublin, and Howth. Shuttle service is included.
The resort is situated on a hill, and provides an excellent view of the Irish sea from multiple sides!
We intend to revisit Ireland ,and will stay at Deer Park again!

We wanted to stay somewhere close to Dublin Port as we were leaving early next morning on the ferry. So a hotel, rather than B&B because of our early departure. We’d seen the Howth peninsular when we arrived by ferry and thought it looked worth a visit, especially if the weather were fine, when a cliff top walk could be in order.
Tripadvisor found only two hotels for us. The Deer Park Hotel seemed to fit the bill - and the budget. Unfortunately we turned up in the rain, but even so we could appreciate the setting – the woods, the nearby castle, the view over the harbour and islands beyond. And of course the golf course, if you’re into that sort of thing. The hotel building itself is alas not at all a delight, being a rather ugly brick built affair, but at least it was functional. The rooms were large and clean, the water hot and the bed comfortable. We took a room only, saving us €10. And to our surprise we had free access to the leisure facilities too – a swimming pool with sauna and steam room, and a gym with various machines, weights etc. . For those with more time than we had they also run a courtesy bus to the nearby village and DART station.
As it was still raining we made full use of the pool and sauna , then went to the restaurant for a very acceptable meal and friendly service (though we were one of only three couples in the whole place).
When we left next morning at 6.30 am the sun was just rising and the drive along the coast – a mere 25 minutes – to the port was delightful.
All in all a very pleasant end to our stay in Ireland.

I visited this hotel to sail in the marina with two other boats so I saw more than one of the rooms and can therefor say that it was not just my own room that was amazing. Before I went I read reviews of it being old and dated and dirty and was pretty much dreading staying there but as soon as we got ther I was blown away! The staff were flexible and accomodating, the rooms were spacious and with excellent views and (my favourite part) the swimming pool was amazing! Steam room and sauna, large pool, bubble area and small waterfall! It was brilliant, and I genuinely dont understand the complaints of the hotel being old and dirty! Fantastic!

Stayed one night and was amazed and shocked at how run down the hotel was, all the hotel windows are filthy, doors to main gents toilets so dirty it looks like it came from a building site, courtyards were full of rubbish The one internal courtyard displayed only weeds ! , outside seating was filthy and really needs to be renewed, carpets again were old and looked worn out, this hotel could be a gem but no one seems to care about the place, staff nice and helpful , guys were painting the outside when we were there but its the interior that needs some basic cleaning, windows are where to start as it was our first warning sign that things were not going to be good! Really a pity , but this hotel could be fantastic if some money updating repairing and cleaning were spent on it. Views amazing as is the drive up to hotel ...too many hotels far better at this price range in Dublin. Staff great.

All but one of the staff were simply fabulous and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The place was packed and the staff were working very hard but still managed to be gracious and helpful. One very young girl at the desk was a bit stiff probably due to inexperience. But we didn't see much of her.

Food was good, staff who served it lovely.

The view from the hotel is simply stunning. Gorgeous. My fiancee managed to play golf despite the weather and pronounced their course first rate.

The second floor has a lounge, which I dubbed the "reading room" because it was very quiet and had beautiful views of the bay below. Very relaxing.

But oh, do they have problems there, all in the "maintenance" category. There was a gaping hole in the wall beside our rooom about one foot long with exposed pipes. Probably opened to effect a repair, but no effort was made to cover it. The furniture in our room was broken, chipped, peeling. Pieces of the night stands were hanging off. The sauna and pool area were quite dirty, so that we didn't want to go back after trying a couple of times. We are talking serious crud, not your average dirt from frequent use. From one visit to the next the same crud was there! The sauna was not operational and looked like it hadn't been for some time. I had really looked forward to using the steam and sauna but couldn't.

Lastly we forgot a package there and called back within a few hours after we left but got no definitive response. I called twice and emailed the lady who has responded to several reviews here but got no reply. The young girl at the desk promised to email but never did. So I assume the package is lost but it would have been nice to receive a response saying so.

I feel that this hotel has the opportunity to be a real show place. Gorgeous views -- the best we saw in Ireland -- a hard working kind hearted conscientious staff, and fabulous location. Why not spend a few euro to spruce it up? I would like to come back but doubt that I would when it is in this condition.

Dear Guest,
It is good to read that you enjoyed our location and found our staff to be helpful and friendly during your recent stay with us. From your comments I have been able to identify you and have sent you an email regarding the package you left behind. The package was found shortly after you had left. When you telephoned the hotel, the receptionist said she would check it out and get back to you which she did by email. As I had confirmed to the receptionist that the package was found and asked her to email you, I did not think it necessary to send an additional email and believed the matter had been sorted.
The comments regarding our swimming pool really surprise me as we have to have a very high standard of cleaning etc. in the area but we have instructed our staff to make certain these standards are met at all times.
We have just undergone major work on the heating and plumbing system and it is necessary to leave some pipe work exposed for testing to ensure everything is working correctly. We are continuing our maintenance and work on the hotel – at present the outside is being painted and we will continue work on the inside when things get quieter. Believe me, there is more than a few Euro being spent on work at the Deer Park!!
I am sorry that you had some issues during your stay but as overall you seem to have enjoyed your visit, we do hope you will return some day. Meantime, I am sure that when we receive your full postal address, your parcel will be reunited with you shortly.
Kind regards.

Lovely Hotel, staff were so friendly, The grounds were stunning, food was delicious. What more could ya want. People complaining that the Hotel is a bit dated, ya it is, so what, if it was a 5 star hotel they wanted they should of gone to one. I would like to thank all the staff that made our few days away most enjoyable, especially Clever one of the shuttle bus drivers, lovely guy.:)

We booked this at the very last minute and were delighted with the easy and unfussy service, the wonderful views and general atmosphere. Breakfast was very good and all the staff were helpful and courteous. The hotel is showing its age, but our room was very comfortable, quiet, and well appointed. I would recommend this hotel for people with young families who are visiting Dublin for events or short breaks, as the golf and swimming pool, along with the excellent bar and restaurant give you a great base to relax and enjoy yourself. We stayed there as a couple, but are already planning a stay here with the kids when they are a little bigger. Also, very good value for money.

Dear Guest,
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and are planning to return when your children are a little older. The location of Deer Park makes it a great hotel especially for families who like to have easy access to Dublin city centre but do not want to stay in the city itself. Some sections of the hotel building are over 30 years old, so in some parts it is showing its age and during the low season we make as many updates and improvements to these areas as possible. Thank you again for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you back as a family to Deer Park.
Kind regards.
