Dropped into this Abbey as we were passing by and were amazed at its excellent state of preservation and care. The upstanding cloister alone is a rare sight to behold and well worth seeing in itself! As we were about to leave, we were met at the door by local tour guide Anthony Sheehy, who was coming to close the gates for the night, but stopped for a chat, following by an impromptu tour of the building and all of its surprising intricacies. We thought we would return the favour by recommending Anthony as an excellent tour guide for any groups intending on visiting the site. We missed a lot of the little details on our whistle-stop exploration, but Anthony filled us in on the many amazing stories associated with this place and showed us all the notable carvings and inscriptions we had missed. Well worth a visit!
