The Rose of Innisfree boat tour left from in front of Parkes Castle so this was the perfect opportunity to explore both on the same trip - and I am so glad I did.

Although small, this is definitely worth visiting...

We visited this castle today after the Marble arch caves.

It's an enchanting place that gets the mind going on how things used to be.

The kid's were given a little treasure hunt to do while walking around and they loved it.

Unlike a lot of the castles that are in ruins, Parke's Castle is still whole. It is a small castle and has been kept up pretty well. Much of it is under repair so only a part of the castle is available to see and they have suspended fees until the repairs are done.

There was some genealogy information on the family and information on local birds and plants which was interesting.

Excellent exhibits and the guided tour was especially informative and well worth waiting around for it to start.

We did not start out to go to this but got lost and ended up there so we decided to enter and see. The admission was free that day as there was construction in the courtyard but even though access was limited, it was really interesting to see the insides and the restoration in progress.

The castle is a good example of architecture of the time and provides one with insight into life in Ireland.
