Had read some of the reviews on this hotel and they seemed to be hot and cold however we stayed here after a wedding last week and I have to say it was a great experience. The Wedding itself was wonderfully done and the food was great, the service was also very good and the staff were very nice and helpful.
The bed rooms were a little dated but the hotel itself is well run and a very nice place to spend a night wheather your just passing through or at a function of some sort.
Well worth the money.

Service was over the top good...rooms were clean and tidy, location is very central between Co. Galway & Co. Clare with all the amenities in hotel you can imagine..I loved the staff particularly Brian & Sheila, unbelievable folks who went out of their way to please, we were very impressed with them, price is reasonable as well which makes it worth checking out, believe me !!

Lady Gregory Hotel in Gort Co. Galway has a very good reputation amongst local people. It is well known for Weddings and i had previously been to two friends weddings there. On considering where to hold my wedding i approached the Manager in the Lady Gregory a young woman called Noreen. Immediately my finance and myself were impressed with the friendly, hospitable and warm sit down meeing with Noreen. She was polite, professional and generous in discussing what the Lady Gregory could do for us and our wedding arrangements. Put simply she had out shone all other hotels we approached with both what they could and would do to ensure we had a great wedding and the cost would be very good value for money.
Our wedding party consisted of 100+ guests sitting down to dinner. The meal was simply excellent. Four course meal was remarked by all to be one of the finest , friends and family had enjoyed in a long time. Quality of service was impressive, with all staff offering to help in what ever way possible. Several relatives had mentioned how polite and cheerful the staff were. Definitely a place where people enjoy their work.
Rooms were nicely presented and what you would be expectant of a four star hotel. I stayed the night prior to my wedding and with family enjoyed the relaxation of the swimming pool and spa . My brothers and sisters children just loved the pool and jacuzzi.
Being an Irish wedding we were expecting that there would maybe be a few who might want to sit up late for a sing song , we were not disappointed.
Next day a few of us stayed a third night, enjoying dinner again and it was excellent. Staff again were amazing. Thank you to them all.

I stayed in hotel for 3 nights and I was very impressed with the whole experience. I had worked in the hotel industry for 12 years so was very happy to find such wonderful staff, excellent food and a smoking room. They have a heated pool, sauna, exercise room, etc.
Room was lovely and warm and bathroom had heater for towels. Will stay there again when i am in gort area.
Thanks to all of you that made it so enjoyable.

the hotel looks fine downstairs but the accomodation is very disapointing. stayed 5 nights , the tv channels are so basic...small selection of irish channels and sky news.....no uk channels even though room says they have. asked if broken...yes getting engineer to look at it...5 days later sky news is still on as i want uk tv and an honest answer.

the food at jb yeates is fantastic.....big portions and great service

shame its let down by the hotel staff on reception.

its like 2 worlds seperated by a door

Stayed in the Lady Gregory with our 3 young kids for three nights. Overall, we were pretty satisfied with what we got - but then again, we didn't expect the earth, as this was very clearly a three star hotel with no pretensions to be anything else! The room was fine, large enough to accommodate us all, but one shouldn't look too close into corners etc (I found that overall in the hotel cleanliness could be improved). Service was quite mixed, from some really lovely staff who were super-friendly to the kids to downright incapable (we got charged our dinner three times in the restaurant). The leisure complex is ahead of most other 3 star hotels, with a pretty good gym, decent sized pool, small paddling pool, jaccuzi, sauna, two steam rooms, and even 5 family changing rooms with showers (which again could have done with a closer clean, but at least they existed!). There was a wedding on in the hotel on the Sat night, which we heard nothing of - apart from a (thankfully shortlived) rendition of the "Rose of Tralee" at 3am in the hotel corridor. Gort itself can be given a miss in favour of some of the towns closer to the coast. Overall - we didn't regret coming here, but I am not certain we'd be back.
