Interesting place! Too bad we could not go inside of the ruins. It's actually a nice place for photos.

Kilmacdaugh is an early Christian monastery founded by St. Colman. It's a fascinating place to visit and to imagine what it must have been like to live in such a place. You can see the round tower and the holy well, as well as the cave where St. Colman is reputed to have slept. It's only a short walk from the parking area and is well worth visiting to experience the peace and beauty of the place.

The Round Tower and Abbey at Kilmacduagh in County Galway is one of my favourite places and I was lucky enough to visit again last week. it's near the town of Gort in County galway and its an old monastic settlement with a fine example of a round tower.

My husband and I enjoyed the ruin site on our recent trip to Ireland from Florida. It was fascinating to walk through the cemetery and remains of the cathedral. A great deal of history is found here. Recommend a stop here!

I must say I found it accedentaly while driving from Gort to Burren directon.
I stopped in this non-touristic spot.

Its well prepare for visitors - there is a parking next by and information board about the monastery.

It very secluded and quiet - thats the best about it. The only company you have is the company of the cows around ;-)

The Tower is in very good condition, one of the best in Ireland. The church is small and you cant get in, same as the other monastery buildings. But it is still worth to stop.
